I feel sorry for that Meats. That is just all kinds of wrong. Just because you can doesn't mean you should...
Yep, people love this sort of stuff. I just don't get it, and that's fine. I can just come here occasionally and make fun of it. To me its just showing off. Flashy techniques and garish colours to grab attention. Toys should be toys, not platforms for an 'artist' to assault with their 'vision'. Practically every custom paint job I see bares no connection to the toy itself, its all so endless and arbitrary. Anyway, i do realise what a grumpy old man i am trying to spoil everyones fun, but unfortunately for me, I most often just see a ruined toy covered in tacky shit. Preferably metallic tacky looking shit ...
I think in general the paint jobs that bother me more are not the ones that don't have a connection to the toy itself but the ones that force a connection to something specific that is utterly unrelated to the toy. For example turning every single monster into a Simpsons character or The Joker or Ronald McDonald. Granted occasionally it works out very very well but mostly it comes off as so damn forced and boring. It's funny, you rarely see a bad paint job when people JUST paint the eyes and teeth really nicely and leave the rest of the vinyl alone. You'd think that method would have caught on at some point. Less work, less used up paint, getting to actually see what color the vinyl is. Where is the downside?
I personally love simplistic paint apps, nothing compliments a toy more than a well placed blob of a single color. Along with some nice brushwork on the eyes.
Homeruns all around for crap here. that green last one looks like it’s issuing a DX as a reference. Lol
Good ol Micheal touch. Nobody can paint like this guy, isnt that right folks? Hes the best, simply the best.
I don't think this one is by fool's paradise (I could be wrong though). FP is another one of those makers that started out strong but has been going downhill ever since
Im adding rainbow vomit as an immediate garbage denominator for toys. that list already contains: spongebob, videogame licenses, Jordans, skulls, pus, bulging eyeballs, “hype-shit”... etc. I guess neo sofubi is one step closer to KR status. We’ve played ourselves the formula being pop reference + poor sculpting + shitty paints = IG lottery, €€€
c’mon, not all video game licensed toys are bad. I love my gargamel Luigi, and I wish I could get my hands on one of the Nerdone Samus Aran from years back... and if by “pus” you mean “Pushead”, I’ll argue that too. Otherwise, that’s a pretty accurate formula.
not pushead. Just all the copycats that put postules everywhere as texture. the one day licenses are great, but should be just that And they are clearly stated as such. Otherwise Bandai probably has a line for it already What I really dislike is the derivative toys ad nauseam that are everywhere. It’s fun to see a toy aping some obscure movie or something like that, but I think we are all sick of Mario and peach color ways and pokachus with swasticas. It’s not even clever most of the time. Were all sick of star wars for a reason
i don't hate 'em, but it seems 'Pachi' is just another term for plagiarism nowadays ... maybe its just me.
