Really? And it’s not an Autopsy Baby? Hmm... I can understand not wanting to post a pic of something that you’re so averse to, but after reading your post, I’ve gotta see this thing. Can you provide me with a link or at least a name, Maddie.

People think I'm weird enough collecting expensive toy monsters and little girls 80's toys, if I add dead babies to the mix they'd probably start thinking i was a sick pervert

I always wondered about people who like those autopsy babies! Still, I'm curious to see this one you are talking about @hellointerloper because i find this recent obsession with ripping off Nags hilarious!

 

i.e. the "wanna hear some dead baby jokes? I know a bunch" demographic

 

The Autopsy Baby and Gergle remind me of a more detailed, extreme Garbage Pail Kids. While the form and aesthetic is obviously that of a baby/child, it’s not so much to a point of realism that I look at it and see a dead child. It’s a comical, grotesque character to me, and I personally appreciate the theme of horror it exudes. But I can obviously see the inherent deterrent in the figures.

 

I don't like them so I don't look at them and I don't buy them. It's as easy as that.

 

Indeed, they are well sculpted and I've seen some with amazing colorways and paint apps. Personally, i think sculpts like that are too detailed and realistic to be called a 'toy'. They look more like a model. A horror themed model for collectors who want a gross-out 'wtf is that thing?' effect. Nothing wrong with that, but i've always associated Sofubi with fun, and realistic dead babies just isn't fun to me. No matter how gross or freaky most Sofubi gets, it still has a fun or fantastical look to it, and obviously not real. I just find those babies a bit grim and serious, that's all . . . .

@The Moog That last sentence really sums it all up pretty well. And even though I do enjoy them, I can absolutely see why that rings truth!

 

That reminds me of spring break at Panama City.

I kind of like it, bahahaha. It looks like a cat that went through a washer machine.

 

Here's the bloated dead baby nag ripoffs I was talking about... they make my stomach churn, and that really doesn't happen often.

I see what you mean, poor man's Nag imitations with 'hilarious' eyeball dicks. Laaaaame!

What I find the most offensive about them is the paint schemes. Seems to be a recent trend, especially with Chinese figures, with the Jackson Pollock technicolor puke colorways. Fine if you like that kinda style but I think it looks awful. Less is more in my opinion, especially on such busy sculpts.

 

You can't polish a turd . . . There's no saving those!
