The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread

I always wonder how people can loose header card.. i mean, one can take really good care of thé figure but don't give a crap about the header??? Very strange...

 

As one of those people, I don’t know if I can help make sense of this phenomenon. You pretty much wrapped it up. I love toys and take great care of them and don’t give a care for the packaging. It never caught my eyes and don’t know what to do with it. I have a bag I put headers in cause others care and when I’m selling a toy I like to think the person buying it from me got all they want from it. My experience, as I loose quite some headers, is that most people don’t care either.

By the way, this doesn’t in any way is meant to say I can’t appreciate the time and effort put into them. It’s just that my attention is all on the toy and not on the header at all.

 

I love headers and often think they’re a big part of a “lost art” aspect to toys. It’s exactly why I started getting photos of toys bagged and headered. Presentation is 50% to me, so having that visual of what a toy looks like with its bag and header is equally a representation of its aesthetic purpose as it is once its on display unpackaged. Lots of artists make AMAZING headers, like Paul Kaiju, Splurrt, The Devil’s Kaiju, Butanohana, older Cure Toy, Secret Base and Ggml fighters, obviously Bullmark, Marusan, M1 - Go, Yamanaya, Spectrum Lab, plenty others. Then you’ve got artists like Blk Clvd(Black Cloud) with the Kvltvs fighter line and Atomica Exotica that’s pumpin’ out killer headers, prints, stickers, comics, bags, longsleeves, tees and others extras, WITH the toys, that just give you that “bang for your buck” feeling.

 

Nobody will be able to flip any of the hype dollies these days without one of them cardboards.

just keep them in bag and keep it flat in some box or closet. Easy

Recent acquisitions. I don't buy much these days but i couldnt pass up the s7 Goji or a vintage marusan Kanegon (my first!). Barunga was an added bonus.

A couple of different boxes of semi-cheapies/scratched/dented stuff. I love Gyaos. I love Baragon. I love Zazahn. I've warm feelings for Gomess. GID zahn in the back is a big deal for me, I think it's a promo item (no green streaks, all-glow, and strangely heavier in hand). Also had been hunting that elderly scrap of paper at the bottom right for a while. Is anyone watching the exchange rate getting a little bit favorable and pulling the trigger on some things?



This pic also just triggered a memory, for the old-timers. A hundred years ago, when Toy Shop was still a thing. I vaguely remember contacting a dealer from Missouri who placed an ad that suggested calling him on the phone during certain hours, for current stock. I think I was just starting out in college and had no money, but I called anyhow. And I have no idea what else he rattled off, except for the new crop of Bandais, and a Billiken "GOHMZ". The end.

 

That Baragon is so great, one of my faves! And that little purple Gyaos screaming to be let out looks adorable.

 

Every time I see a Mantra I kick myself for selling them all those years ago. What a beautiful figure.
