Those are fantastic. I too miss kaiju taro and the hobby in general back then.

 

I remember when $300 for a toy on Kaiju Taro seemed like buying a car. Now it's not even entry level for current releases.

 

Getting reacquainted with a couple old Gargamel friends and meeting a new Rampage friend for the first time. Although I wonder if the pink Koji Smogun is the real deal. My old one had an RFSO license plate on the back, and this one doesn't. Hmm.

First toy I’ve bought in ages (years!). Well, I did buy one in December but it hasn’t arrived yet - so I guess this is the first toy I’ve received in ages. Been wanting to pick one of these up since well before I “stopped” collecting and finally got around to it. Hope to add a matching Matango at some point.
Excited to have this new guy because I have no room for it on the shelf with his brothers…which means it’s time to do some rearranging!
Also, when I bought it I thought it was one of the newest re-releases - but now that I have it I think it’s an older re-release. I haven’t paid too much attention, but both paint application and base vinyl seem different from the newest Hawaii hedos. This appears to be flesh base, and I thought the newest were pink base?

 

One of my faves. M1GO used a flesh base for that, and I think they did the same with the yellow reissue. They also used a flesh base on the black version from the Bullmark catalog.

If you've seen that one in person the colors are pretty different than the Bullmark Hawaii Hedorah.

M1GO did reissues of Hedorah in the vintage yellow and Hawaii versions. Modern Bullmark did a yellow one but they haven't done a proper Hawaii one yet.

 

There's an auction currently up that has both figures, here's what they look like side by side. The unbagged one is the modern Bullmark reissue, the bagged one is the M1GO reissue that looks like the actual vintage Hawaii Hedorah.

 

There have been a lot of Hedorah reissues lately, and some confusion even here in this thread. Bullmark did indeed release a proper reissue of this Hedorah in late 2022 as shown in the photo above. It is not the old M1GO reissue from 2004. Modern Bullmark has the vintage art only on one side of the header with Neo-Bullmark company info on the rear. M1 used vintage art on both sides of their header. This new reissue can still be ordered from Hakaba Gallery here. It is my understanding the base is a light tan/flesh vinyl but fully covered with the pink sprays. I have not seen one in hand to prove this yet. The old M1 was a lighter pink/flesh vinyl. The paint applications are very similar and it is now difficult to tell them apart unless comparing multiple examples.

Yeah now I am looking at the auction photos again and that is not an M1GO header card. I stand corrected, but the pictures above and from Hakaba's site make it look very dayglo pink and not like the vintage toy.

 

I love dayglo in general. But when it comes to Hawaii I love a traditional! So, doubly-glad that I ended up with the older M1! At the price I paid I really didn't care what I ended up with, and just bought without looking too closely and assumed it was the newest version.
