It's stories like this that make me wake up every day and praise God that I live in a country that lets me be an atheist.
My wife's cousin is in Afghanistan. I don’t think he should be asked to risk his life to establish this type of government and put these kinds of people in power. It is very upsetting but not unexpected. I just hope we decide to cut and run soon. Enough already.
Knewnan - word up! Arn't these the same people that cut hands off for stealing? Or am I just ethno-illiterate?
For the record, when I said "these people," I meant anyone who believes that a convert should be put to death. I did not mean all Muslims. Why is that line a classic? There is freedom of religion in the U.S. Things are far from perfect in the U.S., but compared to Afghanistan, it's utopia.
We best not open the old CAN O WORMS, get my drift. Or there could be no end in sight, just like Bush's WAR - OOOOOPS !
No you're right. Its just that drama tends to bleed over into other areas and I like the vibe here. I'd just assume folks not be guning for one another across the boards. If I want to get the urge to punch someone in the face I'll go over to KR.
sheesh i thought there was irony in the sentence. you know 'praise God i can be an atheist.' Forgot you yanks don't do irony
Oh don't count us all out over here Parka! It is called sarcasm and it has to be doled out carefully or it will spill over into a fist fight. Oh and forget Ironic Sarcasm - right over every ones heads! I have stuck my foot into my mounth more times then I can count. Oh and Knewnan - I knew you were one of us - the Bill Hocks quote? Beautiful!
I didn't catch that joke. I didn't take note of the "thank God" part because people use that phrase (and others..."God damn it") all the time without actually meaning it. Oh well.
