I expected to see a thread for these on here somewhere but I guess not. I'm passing on Jagi but Kenshiro definitely has a place on my shelf, This also ends my two year vinyl hiatus. http://store.unboxindustries.info/product/hokuto-no-ken-kenshiro-preorder-shipping-august Not even sure if this is a Japanese company but Cosmo Liquid sculpt and hand painted soft vinyl ticks a few boxes.
Unbox produces out of China, but the vinyl of theirs I’ve handled has been pretty nice in hand. Really, really awesome they got Cosmo Liquid on these for the sculpts, too. Fist of the North Star is definitely an additional win on top of the aforementioned, as well. These look pretty damn good.
Gorgeous sculpt and great paint too. I was sad about missing out on the unpainted smoke release until I saw this!
I haven't pulled the trigger on these myself. Despite being a huge anime geek, I have never seen Fist of the North Star. I guess this could be a little surprising since anime is the vast majority of what I watch now a days. It seems I keep watching more and more as I get older. I'm waiting to hear the comments about how I should have already watched it. On another note, I guess they have received enough preorders that the description changed from an August shipment to a September shipment. I don't think they capped the edition size at all, past manufacturing constraints. As far as Unbox sofubi quality, I have only had a few of the pieces from Ziqi Wu (ice cream dino, tridino) but they all seemed to be of high standard.
Seeing these in person, they bare a striking resemblance in form and scale to the larger Cord Viper Machine Sider figures. I had never really wondered who did the sculpting for Cord Viper, but after seeing this, I don't think I would be surprised to hear Cosmo Liquid sculpted the Cord Viper figures (at least the larger ones) as well.
Definitely couldn't resist throwing down for this pair. Abe Toru's also making a Kenshiro figure right now (with possibly a swappable Jagi head??) that has a nicer sculpt, in my opinion. But I'd rather stick with the maker who does more of the characters in the long run...
