Finally got a big boy! I've admired them for quite some time, but couldn't justify the purchase. Then I got major fomo seeing all of the recent pick-up pics for the #26 ver. I lucked out and scored these together for less than the cost of one Bigscale via eBay.
One of us! One of us! So happy you got a good deal on both of them. What do you think of the middle size?
Truth be told, I got one of those "last year" reminders in my photo library, and I bought two middle sized ones for cheap in 2023. I love them, it has just as much paint detail. My bigscale doesn't have any clear pieces, so the middlescale checks all of those boxes.
Yeah, I probably should have! But like an idiot I didn't. And I'm still short on bodies, and now apparently Obitsu isn't making those bodies anymore. I saw two on eBay with $300 price tags!! Shoulda loaded up when they were $20 a pop. I just recently painted and rearranged my home office, due to acquiring a new (old) wall unit. But I had to shift my SB & Skulltoys cyborgs around a couple of times, and it was a bit of an ordeal given how finicky they are. But handling them as much as I have in the past week has really made me want to get my last few suits on bodies so I can get them up on the shelf with their brothers. I may just bite the bullet and get some Cyborg 99s to modify...certainly cheaper than Obitsu, which is just weird. Or maybe I'll finally try a RAH if I can find a cheap one. Anyway, sorry to get everyone's hopes up by bumping this old SB thread!
I don't have a ton of Secret Base figures but recently I discovered Sushi Dokuro and I really like it. Would love to track one down.
My favorite Secret Base figure i own is the Oiwa - the version I have is the non tattooed unpainted version that I'm currently painting up to look ghostly like this one below. It came in the cool box with art all over it unlike previous ones I had that just came in the clear cylinder.
Both the Sushi Dokuro and the Oiwa are so great. I kinda view these more as statue - esque, rather than toys, but they’re wonderful to look at and display incredibly well. Especially in higher numbers. The tampo printing on Oiwa and their Karakasa Obake always come out so readable and clean.
Never won a lotto, but safe to say if I didn't hear anything for the DX Big Scale Astro Boy earlier this week, I probably lost, right?
their response time can be odd. most times you hear right away but there have been a couple instances where i heard a week or so later. i'd also watch out for the lotto doesn't pop up again. sometimes they either hold some of these big toys back, folks don't pay, or something else happens where a few months (or more) down the road they post again for an older toy release again.
