Re: Usugrow Angel? Salvation Ink is the name. Looking very promising... But looks like the RI is not ready to retire just yet.
Just when I think this scene is getting stale, Usugrow drops fire. These are going to look so nice next to the rebel inks.
Head leaning forward compensates for the wings? Propped foot gives it more stability than two flat feet? Definitely seems trickier than the captains and pirates.
I kinda like the way Hiddy's confirmed the Rebel Ink has been retired and given hints on the new sculpt to keep the collecting buzz going without giving too much away . . . As long as he don't do a great ugly frickin' plynth base (a'la EWOK's Horslington) to make it stand upright . . . all will be cool! I kinda hope it's a smaller stature to contrast with the RI.
Thus far i'm underwhelmed but as Andy says it's just snippets of info and it's already whetting people's appetites for it.
I love Usugrow's art, but don't care for Rebel Ink at all. Pretty much any 'urban'-styled toys or toys even remotely appearing to be so really annoy me. With that being said, I do like Salvation Ink much more.
I completely agree. I love his line work and art. LOVE. But as far as the Ink figure..having owned the blue one. I really couldn't stand it. It didn't fit anywhere in my collection.
I am not a collector of urban vinyl and but its not a surprise to see these get lumped in with that. But you can't really get away from it as many of the influences you see in urban toys is the same. But think about it this way, Usugrow has been creating long before people ever thought of making urban toys and what be has done already is better than most of what's out there.
I have to admit I'd be kinda stoked if it was based on that body styling and of similar proportions to the RxH ChaoQ!
Really hate the head:body proportion. If the head were smaller and actually fit the body it might be kinda cool, though I don't like the bandana either.
