soooo good. :) I know I'm a sap, but sheesh, I had misty eyes through probably a majority of the movie. Just soooo damn cute. Gosh. What a freaking amazing movie, transcends "animated" or "Pixar" or "kids" or "Disney." It's just really really good. I may even like it more than Toy Story when it comes to the Pixar catalog.

I heard the same thing; from a group that would be the last you'd expect to give a movie like this so much praise. Gotta see it.

It's definitely dark, no question. In the way Idiocracy (another great movie) is, and with similar themes. But still funny. Sad in that the most human characters in the movie are robots, and the Earth that's depicted is utterly destroyed by wanton consumerism.

    I loved it.

I'm hesitant to say I like it more than "The Incredibles", but I think Wall E is better... I'm an emo guy, so I got choked up more than a few times, and really fell in love with all the robots. Loved all the music references (beyond Michael Crawford in "Hello Dolly"). I did disagree that "Blue is the new red" however... That's just crazy talk. Loved the Macintosh boot sound... Loved that Eve was a robot that Apple would design if iPods were flying scout robots. Loved how the auto pilot looked looked like an old ship steering wheel. Loved the cleaning robot. This movie deserves all the accolades it's receiving.

    Pixar can do no wrong.

They did totally bite Wall-E from Short Circuit, the movie was about a curious robot that learns human emotions and the ship auto-pilot was obviously taken from the one in Flight of the Navigator, mounted in the ship the same way and the auto-pilot as well. The ipod robot was a nice original take though.

Thank GOD. I have been trying desperately to remember the movie that they bit off to no avail. I think my friends think that at age 21 I have gone senile.

Anyway, it was great. In my opinion it was not quite as good as Ratatouille which had me seriously tearing up. However, as a cinephile I loved the multiple nods to movies that established this genre such as 2001 and Alien.

it might be similar to short circuit in the robot emotional vein, but they're completely different movies.

it's a fantastic movie though. best movie i've seen all year.

FYI Pixar had Jon Ive from Apple come in to talk witht hem when they were designing EVE. So it's no coincidence!

Screw Wall-E, Bring On The Clone WARS!

Seriously, All the pop-culture referencing of this movie is worth it alone. The socio-political message was brilliant. I laughed, I cried, must see.

took my daughter to see it over the weekend and it was great. i'll admit i got a little misty in a few parts. the only kind of weird thign was the mixing in of live action. kind of threw me for a loop.

i may take the wee one to see it again this weekend. she's been begging to watch it again.

I love the incredibles so it's hard to compare the two. But I loved wall-e.
Visually it was outstanding. I loved the story and the social commentary.
It a thrill to see something new and not know what to expect.

Finally saw this last night -

Someone told me Wall-E's design originated at a ball game - The guy borrowed a pair of binoculars, then ignored the whole game, with them turned around backward, bending and angling the hinge, trying out different 'expressions.'

I didn't mist over, but this is definitely a 'repeated-viewings-rewarded' flick, and I'm with Nicky that this disc may be what finally drives me to buy a Blu-Ray.* The first 20 minutes or so, setting it all up virtually without a peep of dialogue, is pure genius. Also, like most animateds, the credits are also bizarre - 'Sweatbox coordinator'? 'Production babies'?

    * - (Speaking of which, is the PS3 still considered a/the smart way to buy a Blu-Ray player?)
