ok, i though i could figure this out on my own... but i can't. what does the term walder mean? is it a particular figure? a color-way? something do do with clear vinyl?
I can't tell you what it means, but I can tell you that the Diaclone bad guys were also called "Waruders."
Look under Muton in the description-its mispelled but proper.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Cyborg-Muton-Androi ... dZViewItem
so does it mean the design takes inspiration from a walder figure? i don't see anyone saying... damn, i hope they make a walder version. I THINK what i see in common is clear purple, am i wrong? if it does take inspiration from that, why that? what makes them so special?
Honestly I'm not so sure if it refers to the figure or more the outfit..Muton is the best guy for this one..I was going to take a few pics of my Waldars but my girls got the camera at the lake and I'm SOL-hahaha!!!
I'm not super familiar with the history, but I think S7 issue 11 has the full background on them... King Walder was a villain created by Takara to be the nemesis of the Henshin Cyborgs. (I think)... His figure was clear purple, and he had a black crown and chest carapace with silver highlight spray. (I think)...
Heres the site w/all the lowdown!!-It's what i used in conjunction w/mutons and Brian Flynns advice when i first got into cyborgs-Its very informative and i highly recommend copying it to favorites- http://mykooltoyz.tripod.com/cyborg.html
walder comes in three colors: green, yellow, and purple. the inspiration is from Henshin Cyborgs from the early 70's. Purple is the most common color becasue of Dokuro King. hope that help.
Because they're old Japanese toys that a lot of these new Japanese toymakers grew up with and take inspiration from, like the Secret Base 12" suits come from that kind of toy. The clear purple with the black suit is the reference to the old toy, like the clear purple Walder Skullbrain referenced it as well.
ah. ok, thanks for the explanation folks! next time i go to Fresh Choice i'll try to make myself a walder!
The bad guys are always special. If you are clear purple with innards and have a skull head so much the better. Damn -where's my Walder version Kaws companion?
Feel free to correct me if I 'm wrong but Walder refers to any character who is an enemy of the Henshin Cyborg crew. the Japanese for Walder is phonetically WA-RU-DA; WA-RU literally means bad or evil. (think Wario!)
doood! if anyone can help me find any of those vinyl figures of the walder monsters, I will be forever grateful....especially that Dokuro King. Thems is tooo dope. just found some...any help would still be loved tho.
I am glad you pointed this out. Often you see it written out with the kanji for evil (悪) as the first portion of the word. "Walder" is merely a bastardized phonetic approximation of the Japanese name for the character
Yes! I was going to mention that very issue as well. So, now I suppose I'll just lend my support toward that as the accepted meaning. Excellent point. ^_^ Also, hyperparasite, I concur. Dokuro refers to the skull, if I am thinking correctly, so it is the "Skull King". which makes sense looking at the classic toys. A current echo of the purple see-thru skull-head lead villain is found in the cartoon "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!", which airs on ToonDisney and has been discussed about on the boards before. Wario indeed. But even more obivious is his brother, Waluigi, since "warui" is in his name completely.
I have on order an "obitsu body D" cyborg (clear). I just like how it looks. But how is this different from like King Walder figures? Or is it just what "suits" you put on the bodies that makes them different?
if you got the body im thinking about then its way slimer. the walders i think are the best but are hard to find sometimes. nothing compares the some inwards in a clear purple body.
