I was pretty cynical too.....UNTIL I WATCHED THE TRAILER! Oh man, all of my faith goes blindly into this, I can't wait. I agree, I don't think EVERYTHING needs to be a movie, but it looks like they're going to do this justice. I thought, when I saw the thread title, it'd be some BS CGI crap by Dreamworks with Eddie Murphy as the voice of Bernard or some such garbage. I haven't been this excited for a movie in....shoot I can't remember now!
I was hearing that they were trying to reel Spike's creative juices in to make it more kid friendly. I hope it stays true to the source. It looks fantastic.
Supposedly he worked closely with Maurice Sendak on ideas for the movie adaption. Hopefully his vision won't "sabotage" such a classic story. Trailer looks damn good and I'm also really, really glad they used fellas in suits.
that gave me goosebumbs. i cant wait. i knew it was happening but i had no idea spike was doing it. couldnt be a better match!
Please don't revoke my man card, but I almost got kinda choked up by the trailer. Now that is weird, or maybe it's really great. I gave that book to my nephew when he was five, and had it when I was that age too. Let the wild rumpus begin!
YOur not the only one , dude! Huh, what? Oh, yeah, chicks and sports and other manly stuff *cough*cough*
Looks to me like, in some scenes, the Wild Things may be CGI? Or do you all think it's all guys in suits?
Yeah. I could see that. And maybe some of the fast action scenes.... Showed the trailer to my mom (who's a librarian) and she was excited to say the least. I $ee lot$ of dough in thi$ movie$ future.
can't wait to see this. I'm so glad they didn't go CGI on this and decided to keep it gangsta with the animatronics.
Yeah, Medicom's figures look like they're drunk or hungover, depressed or droopy. While McFarlane's sculpts are much more fun, animated and true to the original artwork.
I got the chance to see a few scenes from this at the Warner Bros panel at SDCC. The parts that I saw definitely didn't look dumbed down for kids. It looks like it's going to be great.
I don't know if this has been posted or not but Disney was in the works to make a WTWTA feature film. This was in the early 80s and were dabbling around with placing 2d objects and animation inside a 3d environment. I guess budget ran out or something and they scrapped the whole project. There is about a 30 sec clip somewhere on the web that makes me think what kind of film this would have been if Disney had finished it. It did look magical in a Disney way but no where near as beautiful as this upcoming live action film. Super stoked. Even though I had seen the previous trailer/poster before, the WB panel at SDCC had me wanting to watch the whole movie then and there. IMO, movie of 09.
