I was joking- sorry, it wasn't obvious with emoticons I guess. Yes, I am moving. But until then, I can be one of the frustrated Interweb buyers.
I didn't know that store members were giving up collecting RxH to benefit us. I don't see how anyone could possibly complain once they know this. I understand being frustrated because when you really want something missing out just bums you out, but Super7 does so much for us. I'd never bite the hand that feeds me. For some reason I just imagined us like ducks in a pond lol. When they throw breadcrumbs it's just luck of the draw how close you are. Granted if you swim around that area a lot, chances are you'll get some yummy breadcrumbs. The ducks all the way on the other side of the pond can't possibly swim that fast. S7 is like that awesome kid who throws breadcrumbs as far as they can so that the ducks in the front don't get too fat heh heh. Now how can you blame that kid when he cares enough to throw that hard and eats none of the bread himself? You shouldn't. All you have to do is swim faster than the other ducks.
I think this is a perfect metaphor. But you forgot the part where the ducks chase the kid and quack at him when he runs out of bread.
I read about a page and a half of this and saw a bit of the half split previous thread, and rather than wade through 7 pages of notes, let me just clear up a few things. The distro network has not got any RxH in a while, so to assume it has shortchanged you is incorrect. Why? Because the minis we have received were in such small numbers that not even store staff got many of them. Waaayyyy less than "normal". The minis were a fun thing for Mori, and he did not think they would be near as popular as they are. They were an accessory to his "main" line. Thus he had made very few of each of them, and only after releasing them has he realized that the runs need to be as big as the larger figures. Many of the mini figures en route (that have not been announced yet) have runs big enough for everyone. Please remember, three months ago there were no minis at all, and it takes three months to get a toy made and painted, so run size corrections take three months to happen. It is fine to offer constructive criticism for Mori, but to really expect us to pass along a "fuck you you have made this hard for me and now I am bummed at you because I want everything for easy and cheap" is not worth repeating, much less translating. Somehow many of you seem to feel that you are entitled to each and every release Mori makes, and that is not true for any of us. It is called collecting for a reason -we do what we can to make it as easy as possible, but none of us get everything we want. A lot of these veiled critiques really seem to be a hefty serving of sour grapes and whine covered up with a "faux critique". Secondly, Mori runs his company his way. There are many things I might do different if I was in his shoes, but the same could be said for him. The reason RxH has got to where it is now is because Mori runs it his way. If he stops doing that, a lot of the brilliant stuff he makes would suffer. Once again, offer suggestions as constructive criticism and it might get somewhere. Additionally, the culture of the U.S. can be very blunt, and the idea that you can tell someone their flaws and shortcomings in "honesty" as a sign of not having pretensions is not the same in Japan. You cannot just show up and start telling them what you think they are doing wrong -you will get tossed out on your ear. Once again, a respectful suggestion on an improvement with an idea of a solution might be considered. Anything else will get ignored, or make them incredibly offended at your rude, pompous know-it-all nature. A third note -and this has not been brought up here, but I get at least one or two requests a week from people wanting to make a recolor of RxH mini "x" for their event, breakfast gathering, church function or birthday party. "It will be fun -why wouldn't we try and do it -it is for the fans". Actually, it is not about the fans, it is about you imparting yourself into his legacy, for your satisfaction, and has nothing to do with Mori. If you want to make a toy, make a toy -but make YOUR own toy, don't grab someone else's just to recolor. That is hollow. If you have a legitimite request that somehow adds meaning and depth to the brand of RxH, we will pass along the request. If it is just so you can have a little something to look cool with your friends with, I am sorry, but I can't pass that along. Mori has enough on his plate just trying to make his own releases, much less your four year old niece's birthday party favor. Not trying to be a dick, but unless you have a real "reason" to make your release, there is no reason to make it. Any other things I have left unaddressed?
hey Bryan...I have been meaning to ask you....my church is doing a special breakfast in honor of my birthday and I was wondering if you could see about maybe doing a special release for the true hardcore fans of my birthday at my church...I figured this sounds like fun so we should give it a go....blah, blah , blah, blahblahblahblahhhhh... sorry just had to do it.......this was a lot to read but definitely worthy of reading
Mr.F, that huge post is one of the best ever. I say +1 to that. Also I'm psyched for more minis, I can live w/o the past ones knowing runs will get bigger and more are coming.
its kind of like Real x head revisiting its history all over again in compressed time. the early ones are harder to get...trippy if you think about it.
