It is cooler than it looks: "It's called "Mr. Bumper", and it's a larger-sized limited edition vinyl, maybe 7 inches in length. The chassis of the vehicle actually lifts off of the driver, revealing that he's not actually driving a sentient amphibian, but is in fact an 8-legged frog wearing an ornate cowl. This is a prototype; the gloss on the final version will be a little toned down."

I liked the last paragraph: Woodring says he doesn't care, so long as people connect to the work: "I love the idea of a child chancing upon a battered old, one-armed Dorbel at some future garage sale and being immediately and deeply intrigued. I occasionally hear from people who say they feel intense attraction to, or derive otherworldly pleasure from, say, the Dorbel or the Giant Pupshaw. Needless to say, I think that's swell. My personal symbolic language doesn't have meaning for everyone, not by a long shot; but when someone on the same wavelength does feel connected to my work, well, it's a goddamn love-feast."
You know what your right , I eat my words. I read it fast is mistook some things. I guess its not that bad.. sorry for the slander
AGONY! Does anyone have 2400 bucks to lend me? I promise I'll pay you back. Maybe. http://useum.blogspot.com/2006/07/mr-bumper.html
damn that is nice!!!! when is the toy going to be released??? I want one!! I would love to see a GID version with hot colored sprays!!!!!
I spoke with Jim Crawford today and he says they're still working on it. Woodring's stuff takes a little bit of extra magic when the magic elves are making it.
Yeah- Jim says probably September, at this point. There are so many cool colorway possibilities with this toy- it would be gret if they did a version or two which employed translucent vinyl, either on Bumper, his cowl, or both...
Skullbrain lads- We just got a flock of samples of Mr. Bumper in the office; here are a few new shots of him with cowl, without cowl and on top of the box. Mr. Bumper will be available in December.
I got my Mr. Bumper yesterday and it was just the thing I needed to chase away the doldrums. Overall, it's as incredible as the pictures portray it to be, but the highlight for me is the design on his chest under the cowl. A lot of work went into this beastie, I love it. It's going to stay on my shelf forever alongside Mantra and Dorbel.
Here's a good review of Mr. Bumper with lots of pics: http://www.plasticandplush.com/plastica ... angec.html
I got a red one for Christmas to go along with my OKOK version. I agree with you about the detail on these guys. Add to that the top-notch quality, and these figures are instant classics.
i really need to go down to okok and see if they have any of the black ones left even though i kind of doubt it.
