Re: years of refusal. I still have not listened to it as I want a pretty solid copy before I listen to it. I have high hopes though as I have enjoyed every single he has released since "ringleader".. Although I also think I am in the Minority as I have really enjoyed the last 2 albums. I am stoked that he will probably play again here soon. Anybody else??
Re: years of refusal. after the crap he pulled with the last tour here in boston, i doubt he will ever see another penny from me. and this is coming from a guy who waited in line 14 hours to meet him and have seen him a dozen times. oh and he was sick on the last tour, but they should have offered refunds for the show. i was told i had to go to the makeup date.
Re: years of refusal. Now that I have fully digested this, I love it. Amazing. Very Rock driven album. I'm ok by myself is my favorite track. Any others finally gotten around to this?
Meat is Murder my ass....this guy has obviously downed his share of Double-Doubles at IN-N-OUT over the years. I think the last Morrissey song I enjoyed was November Spawned A Monster.
I'm seeing him Sunday night in this place: If he cancels, watch for the news story of that beautiful historic venue burning down.
YEAH! We should send him and danzig to celeb fit club! Missy, I was lucky enough to see him at historic constitution hall in washington dc years back and it really was one of the best show I ever saw. Enjoy it! Hope he plays national front disco this tour as well.
He's in Buffalo this week, not going. Funk that.....I'd rather see The Smiths reunite. Moz ain't shit without Marr on guitar. Viva Hate and a few singles after that were good...
Sorry Chris but I think this could be the most erroneous (music related)statement ever uttered on skullbrain ever . Ive seen the healers and it was possibly the worst show I've ever seen. Marr should stick to anything but solo material and keep on praying that Morrissey will take him up on any offers. I feel boorer and whyte have crafted songs JUST as good as some smiths material. I think most fans are just afraid to say that due to fanboy smiths fan backlash. I am of the opinion that with the exception of southpaw, Morrissey just gets better with age. I am glad he refuses to do a smiths reunion. Who needs them? There are no smiths songs I want to hear that I haven't seen him do live. note to other smith fans who collect records. I still have smith test presses I will trade for toys!
Alex while I respect you like Morrissey, and I agree with you 100% on Marr's post Smiths work sucking, I'd still rather see the Smiths together than Morrissey solo. Just my 2 cents. Since there is no time travel yet the likelihood of that happening is still nil. Come on Smiths in their prime versus Morrissey's lounge singer act? We'll agree to disagree.
He's gotten a bit husky for a vegetarian, but he's got this going on for him in my book: When I'm a bit depressed, I can listen to Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want a good ten times in a row. I've never played a song that many times over with the same effect.
the record title has been my keitai/cell phone email since being in japan. also makes a great edge reference.
Usually I think reunion refusal is a good thing, for the dignity of the band's legacy. Still there's something slightly odd about how Moz is willing to give a Smiths reunion a go but Marr isn't. You'd think it'd be the other way around, given the success of Morrissey and the bleak "solo career" of Marr.
Dean, correct me if there is some recent developments but I still think Marr is on board but Steven morrissey is still not. I agree though, I have always admired Danzig and Ian mackayes refusals to reunite their bands.
reunions fucking suck, period. i don't care if you're the smiths or the cro-mags or throbbing gristle. once you're dead, you stay dead.
Alex you're probably more up to date than I, but I did read an interview with Morrissey in the past year which he played it as "I'd be willing but Marr isn't." I wish I could remember where. Maybe it was just an ironic pose.
The show last night was amazing. The venue was gorgeous and perfect for Moz, (I don't know if I could ever see him in a dirty Rock venue now!) Setlist, for those who care about these things! This Charming Man/Billy Budd/Black Cloud/How Soon is Now?/Irish Blood English Heart/Let Me Kiss You/I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris/How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?/Seasick, Yet Still Docked/The Loop/I Keep Mine Hidden/One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell/The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores/Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself?/Ask/Best Friend On The Payroll/The Death of a Disco Dancer/Sorry Doesn't Help/Something is Squeezing My Skull/I'm OK By Myself//First of the Gang to Die
What a great set. Completely different than last tours. "best friend on.." is a song I dont think he's done since that album came out. Anybody seen him do that on the southpaw tour?
I love this new cd....Something is Squeezing my skull is probably my favorite song on the cd.... I think he looks good for his age...in fact, I'm highly attracted to Morrissey..."You and the Quarry" era and later....before that I would admit he's handsome...but I didn't find him attractive till he got older He is totally veg, trust me I know from experience, you can gain weight even as a vegan! ug! For record collectors and people attracted to Morrissey....the newest 7" has an inside sleeve including the whole band naked save for 7" records covering their "junk".
I got tickets this morning for his show here in april! FUCK YEAH! 3 rows back from the front of the balcony!
