There have been a few different threads on the Marusan M-Pop Series so I thought I'd make a single thread where all the runs are displayed. Series 6a Girara Minis - Oddly these are 126000 yens and the full size set is 20000 yens Series 6 Girara version - I dont have much to say about this sculpt usually but even these are awesome all M-Popped. Series 5 - Hedoran - This is the big one for me as this is my favorite Hedo Sculpt Series 4 - Ultraman Series 3 - Pigimon I got the purple one from Toy+Life and its an amazing sculpt. Available as singles at http://www.shoptoylife.com/ Series 2 - Mothra I think this is a new sculpt Series 1 - Goji And since Im stealing all the images from Ami-Ami heres the link to their Rainbow Series page: link (fixed by Roger) Also available from Super 7, http://www.shoptoylife.com/, and Grumble Toy
Hedo still is #1 but I do love that Garamon. I'm hoping to have these in stock soon - Marusan has been flakey on their deadlines as of late.
that brings up a fantastic mental image, as in "this little pigimon went to the market." ha ha ha! the garamon/pigumon is my favorite of the bunch. will all the series be available singly on toy+life?
I love the M-Pop treatment so much that pretty much any sculpt looks great (even the Mothra sculpt, which I'm not a huge fan of). I have the Goji and Garamon sets and they are amongst my favorites. Trying really hard to resist the Hedo set but I know I'll end up caving. I wish more companies made unpainted sculpts more available.
Typically I don't care at all for unpainted toys - but the M-Pop Goji series are some of my favorite toys. They look so fantastic, in such a bright and cohesive color scheme!
Anyone getting 7 sets of these could do an amazing rainbow 7x7 display ! Though I am not fond of unpainted vinyl, I personally love this idea of blank color variation sold as a set. I think they loose their interest individually. Of course, Hedorah is the winner to me !
I like the Hedorah sculpt the most, but I think Ultra is neatest because you don't often see him representing colors other than the usual grey/red.
I don't own any of these sculpts but the Ultraman interests me the most. I almost never buy anything unpainted but would do so for that set. Purple looks the best
I've seen the Pigimon set IRL, and man is it awesome. Im a sucker for yellow and orange vinyl but in this series red and green are the real superstars. Indigo is pretty rad too.
Yeah, we're going to put up individual Hedorah colors like we have with Garamon. Abe can attest to how nice these look up close! Photos just don't do 'em justice
I just got an email from Marusan to let me know that they're delaying the release of the Hedorah set until the middle of July. I'm not sure how this will affect people that didn't order directly from Marusan.
And which colors are most favorite? Having seen them, I'd say green and red are near the bottom for me. So something like: Turquoise, Orange, Purple, Dark Purple > Yellow > Red and Green Can't make up my mind on the first four as they're all so good.
It's funny the photos are not at all representational of the real colors. Yellow and orange are my two fetish colors for unpainted but the yellow on this set is sort of pastel and the orange is too. IMHO the red and green (of the pigimon set at least) were the real standouts and im usually not into either color at all. The indigo is a great oddball choice but it actually is a bit dark to see the details on the sculpt. I have the purple pigimon and he is badass but if i could do it again id do the red or green.
#1a Blue #1b Purple #1c Orange #1d Red #2a Yellow #2b Indigo #3 Green I wouldn't say yellow or orange are pastel - they're bright as all get out!
Interesting. I thought the hint of blue I was seeing was just reflected light in black vinyl. Much cooler that it is dark purple/blue. I think my color preferences would stay the same though. I agree with Abe Jr. on the dark vinyl hiding detail.
It'd be great to go in with 6 others to make 1 set of different colors/different sculpt...when the 7th is made.
Attempted delivery from Marusan! Looks like the Hedorahs are making their way to buyers. Those outside of Japan should hopefully see theirs soon.
