FUNRAISER: AVON 39 Walk for Breast Cancer Hi all, Last year, my wife took part in the AVON 39 Walk for Breast Cancer. 39 miles of walking over two days. She wasn't able to complete it, but damn did she give it her all. I told her that I would walk it with her this year. Any of you that know me in real life, know that I am in terrible shape. Haha. No kidding, I don't like to play video games that involve running. I won't even run from a tiger. I get winded if my nose is running. I could keep going with these all day, but I think you get it. This is a great cause though, and plenty of folks worse off than me will be taking part, so I'm going for it. If you would like to donate, here is the link for my AVON 39 page. I need to raise $1800 so every donation helps, no matter what the amount. I would like to get a raffle going for this, and have already cleared it with TiredChildren (Thanks James!). $5 per entry. This will stay up until the morning of the walk, July 9th. Just make a donation on my AVON 39 page. When you are donating, there is a spot that says "PERSONALIZE YOUR GIFT". In that box, put your first name followed by your SB screen name. If you would like to donate something for the raffle, shoot me a PM. I am making the first donations: gid Elegab Tatsumakira *snagged* Secret Base Pushead Caped and Sleeved SkullHevi *snagged* New stuff generously donated by Skullbrainers! Well, looks like I finally have a reason to call up Wells Fargo and get my new credit card attached to my account, because their phone activation didn't do shit... been using paper money for the past three weeks because I've been too lazy to call. Now when exactly is the cut-off day of this fundraiser? Hoping to cook something up to send your way as a raffle prize, but it all depends on the date. EDIT: I'm assuming you're doing the Boston one, so July 9-10 is the walk... Are you ending the raffle earlier or later?
Thanks! I'd like to end the raffle just before the Boston walk. After I recover from the walk, I will pick winners. I believe I technically have some time after the walk to get to my donation total though, so folks who would like to donate a few bucks are more than welcome to keep sending money along. Haha.
As many of you know my significant other and son's Mom is fighting the fight of her life right now. Fucking fuck cancer. I could not be more down with this. Here comes mine...
I'm really sorry to hear that, and I know that saying that I'm hoping they have a speedy recovery is cliche, but I really do mean it. Cancer is a fucking monster... It doesn't discriminate and it certainly isn't merciful. At least treatment methods are getting better each year. Maybe someday we can eradicate it. Now I have an extra fire lit under my ass to make something special to donate.
Yeah man she had it when he was 4, then remission, then it came back when he was 8 in her kidney, blood, hip, and brain. They took her kidney half out, then cyberknifed her brain. Then she got a preverbial oh shit brain plaque cancer and a death sentence from the doctors. They gave her 8 months. However...she has beat all odds and lived past that date. We FIGHT. She is by far the toughest human I know, besides my son who is 10. These toys are a complete distraction from all of that and sorely needed for my sanity. Thanks for lending an ear I appreciate it man. I really respect wingnut walking almost 50 miles for this cause as well. It's a cause dear to me for sure.
I usually keep my personal life as far removed from the Internet as possible, but sometimes the relating stories and situations we face bring a certain degree of comfort to others. My tio was taken by cancer three years ago. He was given around six months, but he fought for four years, went into remission, and the cancer came back and ultimately, and unfortunately, won. My Mom also recently had a surgery to remove cancerous cells, which was an immense scare. She kept it from me until after the surgery 'cause she knew how I'd [irrationally] handle it. Taking part in this walk, as well as the raffle, is wonderful of you to do, Patrick. A tip of the hat to you, sir. I'll be donating soon, and best of luck to reaching your goal!
Aww man, you too Robert? I'm so sorry about your tio, but glad that your mom is doing well. Moms do that though, they hate to make us worry... Momma knows best sometimes, hah.
My best friend in the whole world is in the middle of treatment for this very thing right now. She is strong and they caught it early, so I know she will be fine. Fuck cancer indeed. I'll damn sure be donating, as soon as I get past my newly jacked up rent this week! Wishing everyone the very best, and encouraging folks to donate to this worthy cause. Now to find some toys for the raffle...
Considering the origin of this little guy - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=44382 And how he came into my life - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=46842 it makes all the sense in the world that he should continue to do good in the world. Hit me up with the next step, P.
Donated. It's still a month away, so hopefully some momentum will kick in soon. My coworker's wife is walking the same....walk? Event? Anyway, so it was easy to hit everyone at once with donations. Good luck!!
donated! my mom and mother-in-law are survivors, my 2 aunts were not, and my daughter's best friend's mother was just diagnosed. skip a meal (or a toy) and donate if you're able. let's put patrick over the top...
