 Re: MAXimum metal
i guess that is a good way to test an idea without diving into it and then in the end you'd all be like: hmmm. that looks like shit. i'm really glad i just ruined a toy.
metallic figures look cool, and this one works perfect with it.

 Re: MAXimum metal
I did not start out planning to make it look like metal - that is just how it turned out when I was playing with the b/w conversion of the draft color shot shown below (work in progress):

Colorized version of the black and white version, rotated -1 degree and cropped.

I thought I saw this used somewhere else...I could be wrong. What do your pucs look like before touch ups? I'm curious to know how much time is spent re-touching vs shooting. Me...I'm lazy. I take a few shots, pic the best one then do work on Photoshop so, PS time > than pic time.

 Re: MAXimum metal
If you saw that pic somewhere else, it was probably mine - but I do remember seeing similarly posed shots where the figure is being sold (Max Toy, Strangeco, etc.). One way you can tell my pics apart from the others is that the left claw on mine is a slightly different color than the right (more purplely) - that's how it is in real life, though I don't think it was necessarily supposed to be that way, because on my other TriPus, both claws are exactly the same magenta color.
How much time I spend in post processing depends on how I like the shot out of the camera, how much fun I am having trying for different looks, etc. In most cases, I don't want it to look like a toy sitting on my kitchen table or on the lawn chair in the back yard, so I have at least that to take care of. Also, I often don't use PS at all, but instead use Capture NX or DXO to make the basic adjustments - I have just never gotten used to the PS interface or used how to use layers.
