Wow! Tim - what an amazing shot! And you've got some dinos I've never seen before. The pink dude next to the yellow dustman, the blue and grey guy near the garamon and the ape in the lower right corner - are those customs? What's the story on them?

 Re: Mo' Buta
Thanks everyone! Buta is hands down one of the best toy makers around. The shear diversity in what they release is amazing and they never let me down. ElvisFromHell wrote: Wow! Those are older dinos released before the ones that are more commonly known now. The pink one is actually made from that really soft squishy vinyl like some of the other older releases. Get Daniel to post of shots (they may be here somewhere already). He's got a pile of the old dinos from this period. They are amazing! Both the green and yellow ape were limited event releases from a year ago or so.

 Re: Mo' Buta
Thanks for providing the name for the Octopus figure, Turtletooth! Tim, you collection is really an eye-opener! Quite beautiful, and a great way to show them all off at one time. I had to laugh though, some of them seem to say... *FLASH*....."oh! you GOT me" ...especially the GID Pandora Mom on the lower right Were you able to acquire them all without traveling directly to Japan? I'm wondering if it still can be done these days. I'd love to collect every colorway of every Buta, but for now, I'm focusing on trying to track down the ones I don't have (otherwise I'd be completely in the poor house! ) Really spiffy stuff! And your Spaceman is squeaky newness clean! P.S. If I was my kitty, I'd love to roll around on on those Butas, such a dream!

Mr. Humphreys wrote: Were you able to acquire them all without traveling directly to Japan? I've never had the pleasure of getting to Japan. Maybe one day when the kids are older. I did however get on the Buta train pretty early - early enough to pick up the odd Oodako for say 2000 Yen. Thanks for the compliments. I'm sure your Buta collection is pretty amazing too. logang1 wrote: Would love a linky for a hi res version of that pic. Really nicely arranged color palette... Thanks Jason. The best I can do is upload my original file to Flickr. It isn't massive but could make for an ok print I think. http://www.flickr.com/photos/studio391/4342597882/

Thanks Tim, I am going to try a hi res print of that pic today. Also, any news on this figure, or did I miss the release?

 Re: Mo' Buta
Yeah, I picked up a bunch of these in the days before everyone went nuts for Butanohana. I guess I can rule out "finding" more. Carnotaurus. Titanus. Giant prehistoric bird from post-dino era. Pachycephalosaurus. I don't think he makes these anymore- these are all the versions I know of. Corythosaurus. Eryops. Also not a dino. There are two other versions (pink and brown). Giganotosaurus and T-Rex. T-Rex is another 'retired' sculpt- also a brown (see plover's photo) and red version. Flesh base dinos. These are all made on a very, very soft flesh vinyl. I have seen a matching Giganotosaurus and Placarius on the same color vinyl base. Maybe they were a test run for the newer dinos. Still need an Iguanodon and Protoceratops... missed the boat on those.

 Re: Mo' Buta
When I picked up my set of flesh based figures, the most excellent folks at Buta also added an unpainted Gigantosaurus fleshie omake.
You aren't kidding Daniel, that flesh vinyl is super duper soft. Funny, I have the other two Eyrops you mention. I will dig them out and take some pics.
Beautiful photos!

 Re: Mo' Buta
Thanks Joe, you the man! I think Buta King Joe ranks right up there for playability. Every piece is articulated. Even the waist spaceship comes in 2 pieces which rotates. The same for the extra spaceship. The only complain is that it does come apart pretty easily. But all in all this black version is simply awesome!

 Re: Mo' Buta
I remember when I only saw dinosaurs from this company/guy. I've been tempted to try out his stuff, but the prices make me think twice. how's the quality of the vinyl? kind of looks like thin costume prop plastics...I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or anything. is it a hard plastic? just really curious. will probably try one out sometime this year.
nice pics, everyone.

nice pics, everyone. It's Japanese sofubi. Why would you think it sucks? It's like all the other rad toys coming from Japan.
