 Re: blacklight shots
Thanks Brian and Mecha for the reply. It's cool how the bl pulls out the marble that's very hard to see in natural light. Almost looks like a completely different toy in contrast...

 Re: blacklight shots
Pardon my ignorance but what kind of blacklights are you people using for these amazing pictures?
I tried doing research but it wasn't helpful at all. Tried window shopping amazon and ebay as well but there are so many options and I really don't know what to look for. I see giant classic bulbs for lamps and mini-flashlights and hand held tube lights.
What do I need to take some neat pics of glowing toys?

What do I need to take some neat pics of glowing toys? From my experience the long ones work best but honestly everything works, its just a matter of preference. Do you want to light up a room or just a single figure with a small flashlight? I actually keep a long black light in the background and shine a small flashlight onto the figure prior to taking the shot so there's less exposure to ambient light but the toy is 'charged' more. edit. I use a blacklight flashlight

 Re: blacklight shots
In my experience the round bulbs are kind of a joke. Go with a 12-16" tube fixture (relatively cheap from Spencer's if you have one nearby), that should be plenty of light for pics...

 Re: blacklight shots
Thank you both for the tips!
I think I will only be taking pics of one or two toys at a time so a tube style sounds great. I will try spencers for sure and I'll also try the charging with a normal flashlight first as well.

 Re: blacklight shots
I found a better deal. $19.99 no tax and free Fed Ex 5 day shipping from: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BlackLight24Same blacklight as Amazon but without taxes or needing to sign up with Amazon Prime. Just another option. I just ordered one.
