So this popped up around for a second the other day, just wondering if it's an HP, FP, custom? I went through a few pages of pics around here and on flickr, but didn't see anything. No, I did NOT score it, just being a Curious Gus and stirring up conversation.

Looks to be a custom? The eyes don't look right. I could be WAY OFF as my Bemon knowledge is small.

It also looks flat...doesn't pop like most of them.

The eyes look like they have light pink highlight 'dots', but it's difficult to tell from the picture.

It's a factory paint - one of the first ones actually. That's a really shitty picture because in real life it's a thing of beauty. Khanate has one I think and his image really shows off how nice this Bemon is.

Question for the 'pros'--I have culled a teeny tiny Bemon collection, and I am curious if anyone can:

1. Give a little history on the 'hand-paint' vs. 'factory' contrast. Specifically, I guess I was naive; thinking that b/c Pollution Monster comes in such small runs, that there was/is no 'factory'.

2. Has there been a pattern of consistency in Bemon (Pollution) releases--or are they always a surprise?

"Factory Paint" is just to say that there's more than 1 (I think they're either runs of 10, 20, or 30 - though I don't know if there's actually been a run of 30). "Hand Paint" means there's only one with that paint scheme. But they're all hand-painted - and I'd guess that the person doing the "HPs" is the same person doing the "FPs".
I think they're released whenever Mr. Bemon feels like releasing them - no set schedule. Though sometimes he'll do them up for a holiday or something.

Another difference between the HP and factory releases is that the HP Bemons came bagged with a poster and flyers. The posters show all of the HP Bemons released in that specific run of 30. I believe in total there were 5 runs of 30 released.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that of the 150 HP Bemons released, the breakdown goes something like this.

2 runs of 30 were done on solid coloured vinyl
1 run of 30 on GID vinyl
1 run of 30 on clear vinyl
1 run of 30 on mixed vinyl - similar to the recent mixed parts Bemons but painted.

Also, to further add to the confusion, I've heard that the HP Bemons were painted by someone different than those released later i.e. the factory releases.

Ok I've had Bemons from all the original runs.
1st 30 all GID
2nd 30 solids
3rd 30 solids
4th 30 mixed some clears some solids as well
5th 30 all over the place some solid, some mixed with clear parts

I'm pretty sure the maker of Bemon Honda painted the first 150. After that he started to use other sources, when asked why I was told he wanted to do crazier paint aps.
The first two runs are also on heavier vinyl

So when was that first run released? What year?

2005. I think the first proto was shown in April of that year.
