5 years 11 months later, I finally got this guy in my clutches, and I dig him even more than expected! Now who wants to sell me a clear Hyakumado building to put him in?

Wow Chase, now that's a score! I've always wanted a Spiru Seijin but you never see them come up for sale. I suspect a glow version would be even harder. Very jealous- I really would love that glow version.

Re: Zollmen Collections
Yeah it's sort of interesting they don't turn up more often. I mean, even though they are desirable, and the entirety of the Subaru production would be the size of the GID Zudon run they came with, that run seems to have been one of Zollmen's largest for sure. I think the kicker is that there are 5 vinyl bases and variants on at least the white and red, making at least 7 different versions, all the size of one run making them collectable to people who already have one. I would bet there are at least variants of the light blue as well, since it is otherwise very similar to the red. I've only ever seen 2 examples of the GID, while the clear blue seems to be the most common and have all been the same, so who knows about variants on them.
Furthermore, it's my opinion that the Subaru is meant to go with the 5 Monster Party minis. It is the same vibe and scale, and the only mini besides them with foot stamps exactly the same, small Zollmen "Z" and "Japan" on one foot, character name in kana on the other. My other Zollmen mini's all use a larger "Z" stamp. Additionally, anyone notice that all the Subaru color bases are the same as releases for the 5 Monster Party minis? Besides a black Dasumoga and Bulugo (the other 3 never turned up in black) all Monster Party minis also have a Subaru in the same base color. Also, the white Subaru is painted more with sprays and pastels, similar to the white Monster Party releases. It's my guess that the Subaru is part of the same mold as at least one of the other Monster Party minis, since that would make a nice even 6 figures. Perhaps they are 2 to a mold, which would explain why there are only 2 ever released in black. Again, this is just speculation on my part.

^ Ace detective work, Chase! That's exactly the sort of study that makes me smile. Congrats on the score as well - I've been looking for ol' Spiru (and a loose building) for ages, too.

Re: Zollmen Collections

modulars are great toys, it would be nice to start a thread. no self promotion just pics and monstrous bestial voices do emerge so i'd say it's got a place on this board

Re: Zollmen Collections
Untitled by vogdoid, on Flickr 5 years after I started this thread, still a small collection. I'm always looking for more minis (although I'm pretty picky), especially Zudon and the 3 aliens not pictured here (and seijin and hood-guy). I like a lot of the newer stanard Zollmen, but these 5 are my favorites. Fancy Toy and zombies are cool but I don't feel compelled to pick them up. I'd really love to see something new that has the patchi vibe of Maza, Baron, and King Pep. Euro-kaiju alliance!

Re: Zollmen Collections
That is a very nice pic. Love those Zollmen Fancy minis. Keep hoping some singles will pop up somewhere but doubtful.
So what's with all the modular synthesizers, filters, sequencers as backdrops lately? You guys crafting some sounds?

Re: Zollmen Collections
^Thanks all vog_island – nice group. There are a few modules behind on my want list too! Chris – there a quite a few guys in to Eurorack / modular stuff on here. I'm starting out with a minimal system and still getting my head round what each module is capable of, but having great fun meddling with sounds and drones

We should all form a SB Spacemen 3! I love drones.

Re: Zollmen Collections
Glad to see there are modular users on SB! I got into modular last summer. I hadn't done any music in several years and when I found out about Eurorack it was like, time to make music again. I'm not making "good" music but I'm having way more fun and better results than I used to working on a laptop. It is not cheap though.
