Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Heh...my sister was visiting from Philly over the weekend and we decided to watch War of the Gargantuas...what an awful flick! We were rooting for Gaira the whole time! Oh, and the sleazy white guy who played the main character scientist-guy was hysterical! Dude couldn't show a lick of emotion if you paid him a million dollars... Then again, it musta been pretty bizarre having to act in a bilingual movie--like many Toho films of that era, the Japanese actors (mmmm....Kumi Mizuno...) were dubbed into English (for the international version of the film), but the white guy wasn't. In the Japanese version, it's reversed: white guy's dubbed, everyone else is normal. Trust me, the Japanese version is MUCH better: the Japanese dubbing of the white guy actually improved his part substantially! LOL

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Hahahaha, I'd have to concur that this is standard for any 'western' actors that show up in the kaiju films and shows of the 60s and 70s. Not sure how they imported these people, as for the most part none of them seem to speak the language nor can they act. You would have thought the studios would try to get at least one or the other!

Don't make me second guess myself, Steve! No, I'm plenty happy to share the wealth. Besides, I'll always have this fine and sunny day to remember them by: They eventually found 'ol blue eyes asleep under a tree about a half-mile yonder.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Wow, that is quite the Dada army! I've always admired your gold mini, and of course the three-fer face is too good. With a large family like that, spreading the love is not so hard. So good to see some of these old pics again. Those Beams midis are really stunning. I've only been able to find a couple myself. What a perfect nature shot too. More M1 love!! Felt like a Gary day today to me: And then Nise decided he wanted a bit o' the action!

^^^ I get such a kick out of that Nise mini; he just looks so sassy! ultrakaiju wrote: Wow, that is quite the Dada army! Hopefully I can one day replace them with the 3-in-1 fella in the same colorway from a few lucky bags ago.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Thanks!! I definitely love his karate-chop action pose (well, with that look, I wouldn't trust him as a dance partner at any rate). And the quality on the M1 minis is of course great - excellent vinyl and paint. Going to have to grab a pic of him alongside his full-size kaiju counterpart now.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
M1GO started out as a shop and then made kits and prop replicas. Here is one I wish i could have afforded, the Bookan! 1/1 Scale fiberglass replica of Booska's power source, well, the ramen worked too! booska prop UPDATE! Almost $500 retail. by Omocha to Neko, on Flickr

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Wow, that thing is nuts. I also didn't know all of the history of M1, great to learn these little tidbits. Here is the second part of my Garylicious day. I like to call this my quadruple-G set (Glowy Garamon, Gorgos, 'n Goga).
