The thing is that he kept trying to get an exclusive for his site. Glad I didn't bother.

Again, this is the type of thing that ruins it for so many new guys. If this is the type of collector that exists today, why even bother being a toy maker anymore. Whats the point.

Hopefully this trend will die off, if not the end is not far off.

I second Bill's sentiments. I know turdbags seem to be ruining a lot of aspects of this hobby lately, even more so than usual it seems over the last year or so, but try not to get discouraged Rich. Of all the terrible behaviour these idiots are bringing in, it is the indirect stuff, like this exact effect on the makers - who are fans themselves and just want us all to be able to enjoy it - is really the WORST thing that could possibly happen, and they are too stupid to even see that. They are shooting themselves in the foot, and at the same time ruining it for everyone else.

Anyways, there are still plenty of actual fans out there, and I believe/hope that they will always outnumber the few rotten potatoes stinking up our bunch.

I’ll add to the Encouragers’ Chorus here, Rich- don’t let this sour you, man! We all know what you’re doing is a labor of love and sometimes a hard slog in the face of adversity, but man- that’s art for you! There’s always gonna be at least 8 things standing in your way to doing art, competing for your attention, trying to discourage you, from the mundane to the major. It would be a shame for you to give up because of the actions of a few shitheads.

Having said that… I just want to point out to all (and I apologize for getting tangential in this thread, Rich) that the recent wave of crap we’ve been seeing… may just be the tip of an iceberg about to cut a swath through our little kaiju/sofubi world. I’m talking about Pacific Rim. I love GDT, and I’m now (after seeing the latest trailer) looking forward to the movie (with reservations on the monster design/”kaiju”-labeling front). I hope it does well, because you can be damn sure its performance is what the studios will base the greenlighting of At The Mountains Of Madness on.

Anyway- if PR is half as successful as they hope it will be, as they're marketing it to be, then there is going to be a major uptick in “kaiju” interest… and many web-roads will lead to sb. Brace yourselves. When the smoke clears, we may have gained some great new members who will add to the community here; in the long-term, it could mean new life, growth/creativity injected into the hobby… but it’s almost a certainty that there will be a nauseating wave of immaturity, goofballism, junk posting, and of course, flipping/profiteering. Get ready to be annoyed. Get ready to continue the beatings. Most importantly… get ready to IGNORE (usually the most powerful antidote).

We need mods on here that are willing to ban known flippers here. I'm not sure if James has that power but it would be nice if he did
