Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
i, too, was not aware of m1's beginnings. i can't imagine the market for full scale prop replicas being lucrative, but i'd love to see more of those! a life-size booska ramen bowl (like those restaurant window display foods) complete with ramen/broth/chopsticks would be terrific.

Ugh! That shell! Nice Gamera. I'd try and display it with a mirror behind him.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Since it is sold now, I wanted to share this little M1 prop issue, as we were just discussing the topic. I confess I came so very close to buying it myself when it popped up for sale this morning. My only hesitation was that I don't really have any clue what size it is - while the proportions of it make me want to believe it is huge (well, let's say standard size, 9" or so) I have the feeling when it came home, it might only be a couple inches big! I don't have any idea though - just want to learn more; hope someone here grabbed it. Nonetheless, it is really cool. M1 Objects 'Namegon eye piece'

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
At an astounding 10" from stem to stern (or toes to 'tenna), this guy is one of the tallest M1 figures I own.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
No, standard M1 release. There was this one and one on a brown vinyl base with blue/silver paint. Both came out in 1991.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
It's actually about 3.5 inches in diameter, I think retail was about ¥2,100 yen. I shoulda bought two!!!!! ultrakaiju wrote: Since it is sold now, I wanted to share this little M1 prop issue, as we were just discussing the topic. Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Thanks Dennis. That is what I was expecting, based off of the way the packaging and writing looked. I was just hoping I was wrong, and this could have been a 'giant eye.' At 2,100 I wouldn't have hesitated either. A pair of these would be really cool together. Soooooo..... feel free to post away if you have some more of these 'prop' pieces laying around. wink, wink, nudge, nudge....

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
I realize you don't have him assembled yet, Steve, but can you stack up the bits and measure how tall this guy is? I'm real curious...
Thanks! And very cool score--even if missing the mini figure.

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
Okay, I tried to gauge the height of him, but it is just an estimate, because there is a lot of flashing I would need to cut away to fit the pieces together. There is actually a lot of extra plastic on this guy, I am kind wondering how many folks would really assemble them - it definitely is looking beyond my skill level (which is admittedly zero). Anyways, he comes in at about 26cm, maybe a bit more once you add the helmet sides on him. So, roughly a bit larger than standard sized figures I would say.
The inclusion of the wires is also something that has me a bit puzzled I will admit. I s'pose just to make the control box that much more 'realistic.'

Re: Show the love for M1-GO!
I don't normally post large photos, but these guys warrant an exception in my books. Finally, after what seemed like years of endless hunting, I tracked down the Gargamel Gargantuas set. That is one Sanda/Gaira duo down, and many more still on the wants list. I honestly can't stop checking these guys out. They are everything I was expecting and then some. Amazing quality sculpts, excellent paint - just all around fantastic toys. Definite contender for a new favourite of the collection.
