Seriously every time I see a picture of one of the final Gogas I just want to break something.

Maybe it also has to do with it being the final Goga release, and I feel like my chances to eventually get one are now almost 0.

You see the whole point of the Anraku Email List is that YOU explicitly DO NOT TALK ABOUT the AEL!

Well for those that aren't on it, what's the incentive not to mention it? It's semi-common knowledge, so there's no point in not talking about it.

When I couldn't get them as much I was totally into people showing pics. I still can't get some. I never saw it as "rubbing it in" and was glad to see them. I was totally grateful to be able to see them, even just pics. I still am. I didn't get the green version, I'm glad to see lots and lots of pics. I like seeing pics of lots of things I don't have. Especially hard to get stuff, if no one posted pics then I wouldn't know what was even out/to ask/beg/cry/dream for.

I love your photo. I wish I had either of those releases, but this one is my favorite of the two.

And, as much as I love the paint, I bet you could have done a more interesting job.

With all this talk of Gogas, and all of these lovely photos to salivate over, can someone please help me and tell me, was a catalog of photos and release years ever put together? Links? If not, would someone knowledgeable on the evolutionary history of these beasties be interested in undertaking this? It would be fantastic to see all the colors and versions in a list to gawk over. Thanks!

P.S. I would also like to see photos of the header cards that accompany these Anraku sculpts if you have them. The rare artwork on these cards seem seldom to pop up, and the one or two I have seen are really nice. Please

It looks like that Goga header reads 9.20.2004, how far does Anraku Ansaku date back?

I'm not sure, but from what I know he's an animator more than a toy maker and he could have created the character for animation then/before the toy was made.

I hadn't realized that Anraku was an illustrator first. I went back to watch his youtube videos, and I love the Goga ones! The newscasters are funny too. Can anyone tell me what is the name of the pink leaping fellow in this segment? I think he was also made into a toy, no?

Ahhh.... did anyone see that raspberry Goga? So beautiful, but such a high adoption fee! And he DID come with header card and that paper insert. I am really curious as to what that paper insert looks like. If the adopter is a Skullbrainer, I hope you will consider posting the contents of that insert here, please

Ah... his animations are simple, but entertaining. I'd have to say, from pictures, the Dako is my least favorite sculpt (might be something to appreciate in person), but this has to be my favorite character from his animated works-that screeching sound he makes, tendrils flailing about... he also seems to have these guts spewing out of his belly that didn't transfer to the toy, or at least not so obviously:

I was under the assumption that the animations were made to compliment the toys, but I guess it's the other way around.



Edit: I'd only seen the Dakos w/limited paint applications... this one in particular is quite stunning...



If there were more like this floating around (perhaps there are and I'm just not aware, but I believe this is a custom job) this sculpt would be much more appealing to me.

So yeah, again, from what I understand the toys are a by product of the animations. I might be backwards though. All of the art is really nice he does. I wish the newer releases came with mini posters too, but lately they've just been bags no headers. That's fine too, less clutter.

Looking at all the lovely Gogas in this thread makes me sad to think that the likelihood of one finding it's way into my collection is so slim. But I can't stop looking. They are too awesome.

I'm still in contact w/my broker, but most of my deposits end up getting refunded as I tend to bid low and refuse to allow myself to get into bid wars like I used to a few years ago when the U.S. dollar wasn't shit compared to the yen, or perhaps it is the yen which has gone up in value, or both... not too sure... anyway, now, once you see the conversion, it's a little unsettling, and that's before transaction fees.

Let's make a scenario... that Gogamejira up there ending at 149,590Y would be roughly $1,835.89 (conversion via XE.com), and that's being a little conservative since PayPal rates seem to always be worse than XE (world's favorite currency site my ass), assuming you're making the payment via PayPal under the scenario you're going through a broker to make the bid (though some brokers do accept other methods of payment, not sure when and if there's a conversion fee at play, I've always used PayPal)... and that's before transaction fees, which only get worse as the price of the item goes up, and international shipping. The final price would easily be over $2,000.00 USD for any international bidder. Though I know this isn't a first for the notorious Gogamejira...

I'm really itching to score my first piece of AA, but I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope to make a deal here on the boards when the opportunity arrises. Strictly watching the auctions over at Y!JA... that's become a hobby in itself.

Sorry, but that "custom" Dako is heinous. Looks like caked on paint and resembles elephant hide...

I can see how the job is completely in opposition to the AA aesthetic, but judging from the photograph I wouldn't say the paint looks "caked on." I'll agree w/the elephant hide though, the paint gave the toy a more matte texture, which doesn't seem to be part of the aesthetic behind Anraku Ansaku's toys.

How do you feel about the palette itself?
