Re: Toygraph...
Well the katakana on the top right Gamera spells Charactics... Strange.
-Sorry, just read that page. It's a Charactics limited version...

Re: Toygraph...
^^^ Ha! I was planning to write to you to ask what it says on the building! Building s, actually - I just noticed that the other diorama has writing on the face as well. I've been curious for a while what the relationship between Toygraph and Chiractics was. Seems they've collaborated more than once, and the sculpting styles are somehow similar but still distinctive from one another, almost as if the fellas running the companies were brothers. Here's the header for the diaramas - any insight to be found there? Also, is this Sharpiage legible? I've no clue if it's an autograph or some kind of inventory reminder.

Re: Toygraph...
The other building says Hotel Osaka. The scribbling... Doesn't make much sense to me!

Perhaps it was a inventory marker or maybe they were all sold at an event and it's some kind of autograph.

Re: Toygraph...
The sharpie writing is the signature of the late Noriaki Yuasa Director of the Showa Gamera films and several tokusatsu series in the '70s and early '80s. I had the pleasure of meeting him at an early G-Fest and had him sign a mini Nitto repro Gamera. He looked at it, noted the size, then looked at me like, "You gotta be kidding. This thing is small." He managed a great signature anyway.

Re: Toygraph...
Haha, that is a great story Mark! And thanks for clearing that up about the signature. I can just imagine his reaction, but I cannot thing of a more suitable toy to choose either. I am completely in love with the Nitto Gamera.

Re: Toygraph...
Great photos D! I love those small fellas, and seeing the details on the base is just gravy in the TG sculpt appreciation.
And now that you have captured them wonderfully in photo format, you really have no need to hold on to the toys anymore. You know my PM addy.

Thanks, Steve... but shouldn't your second comment be in green ink? I forgot the booty snap: THE END.

I don't think it is anywhere near the stuff you see around here (or even on this page) but I appreciate the kind words. I was just thinking the same thing about your collection on flickr. David, the diorama with the twisty building is it Toygraph or Charactics? It came with a mini Hedorah right?

All credit should go to the toys, though. kurumonz wrote: David, the diorama with the twisty building is it Toygraph or Charactics? It came with a mini Hedorah right? Sculpt and production were by Toygraph - header says so, too - but it was for Charactics: the building bears their name; and they released it. I'd love to learn the hows and whys. This was a Gamera toy, licensed from Daiei. If ever Toygraph did a Hedorah diorama I've never seen it. Purple Bat wrote: Ahhh David, I recognize those three fellows! Where's the whole Tower?? David your photos are the best! So much happiness there! It ALMOST makes it look like fun, living where it snows, but you don't fool me! I think you should put together a photo book, I'd be the first in line to buy a copy!

Re: Toygraph...
Yep, you definitely have a lot of strong contenders I would nominate to be included in the Skullbrain Golden Book of Toys. Were we not discussing something of the sort when someone posted that customised book (I think it was in the vintage thread). I guess it would be hard to suit everyone's tastes or touch on all the makers, but there is no shortage of excellent material available on the board. It could even be done as a biannual thing or something. Ah, this is where it was.

Re: Toygraph...
Thanks, you two! How does one kickstart? I'd love to get a grant to go play with other peoples toys! Might even conduct some interviews of the collector hive while I'm at it.
