 can we make a rule...
about not posting a ton of pictures of brand new toys that probably more than half of the people on the board have also just received?
I would really like to see more creatively done shots of stuff you don't see every day, vinyl or otherwise
instead, it's almost always just pics of stuff that just had a release date of about a week ago
not that thrilling

Everyone loves the thrill of getting new toys & I think many of those people like to share what they have just received with the rest of us. I usually refrain from posting haul threads, but I think everyone should have the right to do so if they wish. Nobody forces you to look at them or post comments about it. Having rules in the show your collection section of the board would be super lame.

I hear ya, but that would be hard to enforce, lets hope people join the badwagon by reading this. Maybe a 'toy photos' section? When I think of collections I think of the whole mass you got, or atleast a theme like we have seen before like "show all your red toys"...
Not to bite on anyone who post toys, I do like to see pics, the touring Bakos was nice, but I don't think it should be in the "Collection" section.

Agreed. Is it really so important to impose restrictions on what people can post pictures of? I personally think that the more pictures, the better. That goes for a toy that was released 30 years ago to a toy that was released a day ago. I love to see what other people are into, whether I personally like the toy or not.

Yeah, c'mon Skylar!
How else will the hype get built before the toys are up for sale?

Was the Kaiju Kollision thread I started part of what prompted this? I should have posted that to the Customs forum, probably.

I doubt it. I'd hate to think that anyone who frequents this board wouldn't want to see those Koji customs!

Skylar you make a good point, but posting up pictures is a great way to for those of us who do not own the toys already to see what they look like in detail. Up until now I didn't even notice the astrozombies logo on the 77 skullwings on the belly and those are great shots. There are only so many collectors that have vintage or rare items that not many have seen before and if we waited only for them to post collection pictures, the board would be pretty dull.
At the same time I'm glad you brought this topic up. It's a great way to encourage more people to show off their unseen collections. Hopefully in the process you'll find something that piques your interest

I understand where Skylar is coming from. Maybe a good place to post a 'first sighting' photo is in the post that originally discussed its release.

it wasn't the kaiju kollision thread
obviously not everyone has the same customs (or they wouldn't be customs). I'd rather look at 100 pictures like those in the bako travel thread than 1 of some brand new release on someone's countertop or something.

Here's how I see it.
I could post a picture of my Berrystomper Pirate, but soon everyone will have one. Sure you can post it as what's coming next, but to just show your new Berrystomper pirate isn't really news worthy.
If I could ever get a "Raider" Pirate that would be different

Wow I really like the old school shelf. Is it vintage? Reminds me of the shelf my parents had with the steel piping 70's style and glass shelving.
Re: Toy postings...I agree that we should post as much as possible on this thread. Yes sometimes it gets repeated more often than not, but you do see another angle of how someone appreciates the same toy that you have or a toy that you misse don your radar or ignored. For example this week, I finally saw the clear FGhost that people put up and I regret for not getting it when I had the chance. It's so beautiful.

I don't think anyone is heated but I have noticed that people do seem to jump down peoples throats pretty fast as of recent. I think it may be the influx of all the new people and their KidRowboat confessionals.

look on the bright side, after you sell off all of your vinyl next month, at least you'll still have the memories.

I think a great picture of a toy you thought otherwise plain can change your mind and impression of that toy.
I also think another person's photo of a toy I already own or just purchased can be VERY interesting.

sure, I do think some people tend to jump down others throats pretty quickly. I'm not really for that either. and I think I have rarely, if ever, done that.
I just wanted to make a comment on something that I think is pretty boring and lame. since I had something negative to say, instead of more of the typical needless patting-each-other-on-the-back that goes on around here sometimes, people got all uppity right away.
I'm not suggesting there should be fighting on here all the time, by any means. I hate that as much as anyone. but I do feel that sometimes some of the people here are so nicey-nicey goody-goody all the time and heaven forbid someone points out something negative. some of us like to be cranky (maybe you should try it sometimes, it's awesome).
that said, I don't want this to become one of the infamous "locked threads" and cause needless problems for ramos, flynn, or myself, and most importantly I'm not gonna waste time arguing on the internet, so I'm done. I said what I wanted to say.
I think tons of pictures of the same brand new toys that we just saw preview shots of 2 weeks ago are dumb
the end
