There's a collector out there named Robert Lesser. He's a legend in the world of vintage Japanese tin robots. One of the true OGs. Before that, he had arguably the best collection of Buck Rogers memorabilia -- sold it for $1 million and wrote a book. Lately, he's been buying original pulp cover paintings -- they run about $50K a pop. He's got the largest collection of them in the world. So the guy knows a thing or two about collecting.
He once told me, "There's going to come a time when you're going to buy something for a lot of money. And you're going to wake up at three in the morning, sweat running down your brow, and you're going to say to yourself, 'Holy crap, what did I do?!' Rest easy -- you did what you had to do. You got the toy. And every time you look at that toy, you're going to smile."
