Summer Scrimping and Vintage ID requests; some new old minis
Okay, haven't been buying too much lately (if you don't count all the bandai beaters that I got to paint on) but one or two here or there adds up by the time we hit July. Thought that I'd wait 'til I had a couple of pix worth. This is the YJA stuff. Anything to the left of Mikuras (Popy/Tak, smaller than bandai, diff. colors) is kind of sketchy id-wise. The delta shaped kaiju (imbular? spelling?) has a diamond mark on the foot; Nitto? Or notto? The bullgod and the lizard astronaut on the right of big Mike have bullmark stamps but I don't know the names (or even trust the stamps, mebbe) I've been searching here, and googling there. Any help? Could you paste in some kanji for my file if you can help? Next is the eb*y and boardies shot: I've seen that Astromons color scheme before, but hadn't gotten one. Odd that it's still very slightly tacky and I didn't paint it. The small gamerot is part of a bunch of cheap chinese reprint bandai that are smaller than their regulars but seem to be bigger than most gachapon. And the yellow buta dino is ... well, it's a yellow buta dino and I loves it.

I really like the "cheap chinese Gamerot" I cried when I missed the recent Butanohana version that was on Grumble Toy. What is the black robot/spaceman figure next to the Buta dino? It's so cool! Really wonderful selection.

I've been looking him up, haven't scored a name yet. The bay has 'em in this small and the regular mini size as does YJA. Damn people who just sell and don't care about the info. And yeah, I cried when I missed the buta version, too. Of course, I've missed a *lot* of buta releases, so I cry a lot. There are a bunch that I'm pretty much on constant patrol for.

The dude next to the yellow dino is an Ultraman villain... I don't know his name, but I have the Bandai standard one that's available in comic shops currently.

Found it. Its name is Imperizer ... God of Iron. 'Course I'd have to trust what I learn on the 'bay to fully believe that. But what of the others? Does no one care that they languish in unnamed anonymity in the obscurity of an ignorant midwestern collector's secret lair? Oh, the humanity.

You might want to post your pics in the vintage section, and let vintagevinyl have a look at them. People who can ID them might not have seen them here in the Showcase forum. I would imagine those guys can have that whole top set IDed in no time.

Sometimes I do...but this isn't as rare or as interesting to those guys quite often, so I try to save that for when I have something really different. A lot of people reading this section know this stuff without being strictly vintage so I usually start here and see what folks come up with.

Turns out that the green spiky guy on the far left of the top pic is King Rubanga from "Johnny Vogue Ace" (bad translation?) and was made by Takemi. So there.

Poysntixels, you have such excellent taste in toys as well as an eye for color combos and textures (deep red rose and electric blue are beautiful!). I really enjoy seeing your new additions. Any idea what the names of the figures are in the first photo--#1 and #3 from the left side? I've seen the green guy (#1 from the left) described as "Bamboo" in google translatese.

I think that #1 is Rubanga, still looking for #3; am pretty sure that either it's a variant or (more likely) a pirate re-issue of an earlier bullmark mini. The original has no jewelry if what I've seen is accurate.

I've missed a ton of butas, but I do score them when I can. Don't love the new series quite as much, but the older dinos and characters truly have this clunky charm mixed with great texture and color.
