He's leading along the newly-born Kitaro
Fri Jan 24, 2014 12:06 am
never saw that before. is it really by sunguts? thanks for the info!

what an odd departure from their more neutral-pose toys. almost looks like a candy/gachapon toy in that respect. must be fairly hard to come by — i don't think i've seen it even in any of the hardcore gegege no kitaro collections on the board. thanks again for the info, guys!

^^ That one turns up on Mandarake every now and then, but its never cheap!
Like this set that kappa has:
I've only seen this set pop-up once and it was silly money.
Such a cool set . . . . awesome collection by the way, kappa!

There is a GID set of those tanuki with with the monster as well, which I have only seen turn up once and also was very expensive, YJA I think, 5 or so years ago.
Edit: Monster is called Mizuchiryu.

I brought 3 of these in through the shop in late 2007. I probably should have kept one around as it is a really great little toy.

The clear one is still for sale. Don't think it suits this figure personally tho...
http://www.e-yamashiroya.com/f/5f/mizuk ... index.htmlThis and the GID ones seem to be retail or less when they turn up in mandarake, not sure about the regular ones.
Never seen the tanuki set anywhere again - never been able to find any of their other tanuki figures for a reasonable price (except the sleeping one, new) so relieved I picked that up before the secondhand prices rocketed

Those opaque 'birth of Kitaro' figures are rare and usually are top dollar, more recently if they come up cheap that's amazing, yamashiroya is a good spot to check out I am surprised they still have the clear ones.
Edit: I added these two links, enjoy!

The opaque ones are exclusive to yamashiroya
http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/ja/it ... 32021.htmlSold out but if you keep checking back I'm sure another one will turn up, I was under the impression this was one of the cheaper sunguts figures. I got mine for 2000 unopened (not mandarake)

'Opaque' is not able to be seen through; not transparent. The above referenced releases were sold on the Sunguts website, Grumble toy and one-up. So I think what you really mean is that those particular clear ones are the exclusives.

Yeah, sorry, opaque ones = clear ones. None of the versions are very expensive at mandarake tho.
Yamashiroya is a big toy store in Ueno, the top floor(?) sells vinyl

Here is the last one that showed up on Mandarake
http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/it ... 80288.htmlThat's about $68-$70 dollars US
"Yamashiroya is a
big toy store in Ueno"... Thanks for the info, I want to visit many toy stores when I visit Japan.

Ah OK, maybe the prices went up then. Nakano is generally more expensive than the other branches, though.
