When you can get a pair of glasses for $25 online, you can afford to make a mistake. This blog has the scoop on many of the online retailers http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com/ I've been happily buying glasses online for years.

Or if you're traveling, some countries have ridiculously cheap glasses. I was in Taipei in February, found some frames I liked in a store, popped over to an optometrist, and had lenses put in. All for around $20 including the eye exam.

jebcrow wrote:very true,,not using EMS/parcelforce is a real good way to avoid all this BS......regular postal packages rarely get flagged...

also,,i have been told that value limit before customs charges for "gift" packages is £38 while the limit for "merchandise" packages is £18...

either way,,it sucks all around....

In Germany, at least we don't have to pick them up from a depot, DHL Express(EMS)/FedEx delivers directly to your door - but will only hand you the package if you pay up CASH. One time, the amount they extorted from me was 400% of what I would have had to pay if the parcel had been delivered to the local customs branch for me to pick up myself like it's the case with regular parcels that are over the value limits.

Now, the thing is: this is (to my belief still, I know it was two years ago) illegal. I've come to learn that, according to German law, private postal contractors aren't entitled to pay duty on your behalf unless you have explicitly authorized them beforehand to do so. I'd had to pay up at my doorstep twice within two weeks, so I mailed two copies of a two-page letter with a lot of legal cut & paste demanding ALL of the money back, not only their little "fee". It took both carriers about 1 1/2 months to even acknowledge my letters, then another 1 1/2 months later both of them transferred the full amount - including customs fees - to my bank account without further comment. So at least in Germany, that whole damn express mail business is indeed corporate extortion on a grand scale...

I'll get a better picture tomorrow when I get batteries for my real camera and have some natural lighting.

Not a vinyl toy but it's somehow related--I have been tracking this Usugrow X Vans collab SB highs since last year. I am so happy when it arrived recently...

I never thought a tennis shoe would make me want to fly to the Philippines, sneak into your house in the middle of the night, and lick them.
Nice score my man!

Yeah, for awhile I was willing to score one even its way too small for me---luckily, a US10 turned up for grabs. :D

This unworn pair of SB highs will soon be worn of course.

Cool, thanks! I really don't know how to use Celga, and I doubt they'll have my size, but I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for them. I haven't seen shoes that nice in a while!

Jay, let's get some normal photos of that denim! Looks beautiful though.

I recently organized the Superswap v4 event for Superfuture/Supertalk, a shopping/fashion online community. What we did was send packages each other, almost like a secret santa sort of thing.

I received my package today! It wasn't a mystery though since I was the one organizing the damn thing. Australian goods!

My mother checked the mail today and yelled to me, "You have something from Australia!" I didn't want to go through the hassle of telling her it was from a random stranger over the internet, so I just told her I ordered something.

Opened the envelope, and out came a nice looking bag filled with contents!

And now the goodies! I'm so glad I got all of these tasty (vegemite maybe an exception?) things! I was hoping for some things to munch on, so I love this package; worth the wait man!

Unfortunately, the package came at the wrong day... its mad hot in southern California right now, so the Mars bar was melted to hell, so I put all of the edible goodies in the fridge.

1) Letter
2) Tim Tams (I can't wait to try these)
3) Mars Bar (I can't wait till its not melted anymore)
4) Vegemite (I hope I enjoy this! I love weird things so maybe I will... a video will tell!)
5) Seven Seeds Coffee Espresso (Smells awesome)
6) Wooden Fork & Knife
7) Awesome Business Card
8) Awesome Bag

I'm totally going to have something nice to post in this thread in a week or two. Sold a vintage guitar (for a whopping $2551 on ebay) and I'm going to use a majority of that for a brand new 21.5 inch iMac (maybe a Panasonic digital camera as well). I currently have been using a old iMac from 2002 since my powerbook became a paper weight back in 2008 and it can barely play a youtube video. Fuck laptops! Also have been without a camera for a year...It will be like x-mas!
