Krylon Fusion - results on vinyl?
anyone here ever try it? i want to do some solid coverage on a deka bee and i dont have an airbrush (wouldnt really know how to use one either) and dont think i want to try to brush v color onto this thing (even if i had some) which led me to the question... has anyone ever tried this stuff? howd it go?
also im not sure but the deka bee seems to be made of a different vinyl than the other SB stuff (it doesnt smell like the other SB vinyl to me anyway) ...maybe thatd make a difference but i think the chances of anyone having tried it on a deka let alone any vinyl is even slimmer. anyway... any input would be appreciated!
-edit: btw i did try to search this topic so if its covered somewhere else sorry, totally missed it.

I'm sure you can get some more authoritative answers, but in short I'd say "no". Now I've also had diff results can to can, but I'd say you should at least try it on something small and inexpensive first. I've made more than a few sticky/tacky customs (vinyl off-gasses and things can go sadly south later). Also I prime everything first now and there's a slew of things out there that work for that. Oh also wash that sucker w/ soap and water first.

Bwana uses (or used?) Belton spray paints on his customs and I recall people mentioning that they were tacky (as in sticky, not poor taste).

Weren't the Dekas outsourced to China; hence the different vinyl? Also, vcolor is available in a few colors in mini spray cans for those wishing to do a solid/prime coat. They work awesome-ly. Cuz vcolor is where it's at!

Re: Krylon Fusion - results on vinyl?
NO. In general stay away from Krylon, and especially Krylon Fusion. Krylon paint is watery; not good. If youre bent on just using spray paint, get some nice good paint, like Rusto, its thick. Even better, if you can find some and willing to pay a bit more, get 'art' spray paint; Montana, Belton, Sabotaz. But for something like this, Id say just buy some modeling spray paint from a hobby store, I heard Tamiya works ok on vinyl

montana spray paint works good on vinyl, I've used it some western vinyl pieces, but I would primer first.

Re: Krylon Fusion - results on vinyl?
i didnt realise v color came in a spray maybe i hafto look into that. i did think about modeling paints also which im sure is a decent option. and the more expensive sprays you mentioned were something i considered, but dont have any info on and figured they wouldnt stick to vinyl. i got impatient and did test spots on the bottoms of the feet and got decent results but i do see it becoming an issue as far as even coverage... thanks for the input guys!

Shapeshifta used Tamiya. You just need to put a good clear coat after painting.

Re: Krylon Fusion - results on vinyl?
The vcolor spray cans are the same size as a "half can" or the Tamiya cans. Coverage depends on what color you are using vs. what color you are trying to cover. I'd say 1 can of white (what I usually use) might just barely cover a yellow Deka bee as a base coat...however, if you want to change the color; i.e. make a White Deka Bee, maybe go w/ 2 full cans. Either way, the finish is always gonna be buttah-smooth w/ vcolor...and it's good for your brain!
Check kaiju-taro for info on how many milliliters or whatever the cans are, I iz not gud wif numburz.

Re: Krylon Fusion - results on vinyl?
i used it for full coverage on a fig. it works fine, dries non tacky, but about 3/4 of the way through painting the can started leaking from inside that weird spray nozzle trigger thing. it leaked all over my hand. lame.
