According to my wife, logic always gets in the way of her being right.

It has been dicussed before from past swaps. It is basically so one guy can take a pic of the customs as a group. There were some other logistics to it but that was one of the main points. If people want to call out Manimal for the way this is run, you might as well call out, Joe, hellopike and redneck (or was it redhanded that ran the first one). Its been smooth the past couple of times so no one's changed the way the swaps are done.

i don't join these customs swap because i'm afraid i might get something fucked up. sorry!

and yeah - apparently there is a new filth filter in effect - im glad it has been changed to my fave candy bar though!!

Im not calling out Manimal persay, more of the illogical way the swaps are ran. I occurs to me that some one could use their Digi camera to take the pic of their custom , then email to Manimal to post when all items have been sent.I mean, pay 5 bucks to ship item to manimal so he can take some pics and then have to spend time repacking and addressing and paying for shipping and then waiting for them to finally reach the proper party. Or , use the internet( its free ) to send pics of your custom to manimal for him to post in the thread, then once the you get your address for your swap mate mail it directly to the person!Not only are you cutting costs, but also cutting the lag time of the item going to Manimal.

I see what you are saying but I guess because its always been this way and worked so very well that it continies on as it has been. I just like to see stuff like this going on and people still taking an interest and a bit of a chance on a swap of customs so that we can all enjoy one another's ideas and creatib=vity!

Logically I agree with you J.
It's just the smart thing to send it straight to the person receiving.
But then it's also cool to have them all together to catalog it.
That's what I'm planning at least.
It's another step that's somewhat not needed.

I agree it's a risk, and I've scored big in the last swap too, thanks kirkland! I won't name names, but I'm glad I didn't get one piece in particular from the sb swap. It's a risk you run. Also, by sending them to one person, you can add little things, like the plushie that hellopike added to each sb swap fig. It's not necessary, but it was a very nice touch!

yeah i gotta agree that the plushie was a funny little surprise!

For me, I didn't mind the extra step, I liked running the swap I ran because I could take some fairly decent images of each figure for posterity, and reveal them as they arrived. Plus once everything arrived it was all shipped out together (basically). By receiving all the customs first, it makes sure no one welches out on sending a custom too... not that I think anyone would do that.

As for the risk of getting something that's not your favorite, well, thats part of the fun for me. I like blind boxed stuff, and I love customs, and while the customs might not all be on the same level of technique or execution, each is unique in its style and character.

The only downside I could see to having one person getting all the customs first is potentially rigging the random drawing to benefit themselves or whoever. But thats where trust enters in.


but hey, nowhere are the rules written in stone. Whoever runs it calls the shots.

My custom isn't airbrushed per se but it is within what is understood to be a kaiju custom ( no acrylic paint! )
