Western kids just happen to love him just like we do. the lines are blurring for sure and that's ok. But there is crap to be found in both eastern and western circles.

A lot of the Japanese guys are inspired by the Western guys and the Western guys by the Japanese. There's cool stuff for everyone. I only collect Secret Base which is obviously influenced by American culture and I also think what Greasebat is doing is super awesome which is a perfect example of Western and Japanese combined.

I don't think he was listing all the Western vinyl on here that gets love. Just a couple examples. While MF, Itokin Park, and others get praise, Touma does not. I don't like all of Touma's stuff but I do have some of his toys. So you see...not all that is made in Japan is well liked. I don't think it's a double standard, it's just what people like and don't like. The hypocritical part is when people bash something then pm the artist and then asks if he can commission the artist. Kozik was a prime example. There were people that would bash him publicly on here and then pm him for a piece.

That's because someone was trying to pay kozik to NOT paint a piece. gatchabert wrote: Russblue11 wrote: petitetoilonrouge wrote: toybotstudios wrote: this board is full of double and triple standards. Re: DrilOne Skullbee
I wasn't actually aiming at starting a debate (for once). I just meant I find it funny how people will laugh at KR or Western vinyl in general yet will gush over the Monster Factory line and Itokin Park (amongst many others). I'm not saying one's nice and not the other. Aesthetically, I just don't find them all that different. But that may just be me...

Re: DrilOne Skullbee
I always understood the divide has having to do with an anti-KR, anti-platform toys paradigm. KR sells it or KR board types like it = bad ! Hence Touma = Japanese, but "bad"...

Re: DrilOne Skullbee
I just wanted to say that I would have never imagined customizing this stuff myself. For YEARS I said I would never do it, but years went by. I pretty much had most of what I was looking for, save a few pieces. Nobody was caring about Cyborgs anymore. No new Cyborg suits were coming out. The toyline was DEAD. All interest in the toyline was just fading away. I stopped going to our website and we lost a lot of people. Nobody was posting anymore. One of our VI website founders asked me if I could post something that would shake things up a bit before everyone lost interest. No collector customs were harmed in the process. I used heads that had been cut in the back and I tried to make them "Pretty". I know that no skullbrainers would give a rots arse about my stuff, but I did it and people on VI started to care again. No one else would use vinyls like that, but it made people like cyborg for a bit again. It gets kinda depressing then you are the only person who cares about a toyline. I sincerely hope I did not offend anyone in the process.

I guess people get mad offended when they see a platform they love get messed with but, screw it. You got the chops, get it done. I dont have the chops. just realized how old this thread is but who care.

Im sure a lot of these folks have KR or Western in their collections, they just blur it or take it out of background shots so they won't get made fun of. Even though the folks making fun of them probably have some too.
