video was pretty funny as a visual image. Not as good as that Warhol burger video though that really cracks me up.

As for the "point" of performance art, I'm still not sure- there probably isn't a specific point. However, I never imagined myself ever doing anything in the performative matrix; I didn't even know it was a class on performance art until the first day of lecture. It's been a blast so far though, and a couple of other classmates and I are already planning happenings in the future. For those interested in learning more about it, I recommend reading Guillermo Gomez Pena's book, Ethno-Techno!

Re: Post Your Art!
I've always considered myself a "creative" person. From my earliest memories through high school I was always drawing, painting, sculpting, taking/developing photos, etc. I figured it'd always be something that I do, but over the past 15 years I've mostly only thought about making art, and not actually done anything. I've found that both my skills and my creativity have greatly atrophied, and I'm pretty disappointed in myself for letting that happen. I'm trying to rebuild those parts of me, but it's been a chore to make myself sit down and draw - especially when I hate the results. But it needs to happen. When I couldn't draw something from my imagination I turned to objects around me, which naturally led to some of the toys in my collection. A few drawings actually turned out alright, and so I decided to keep moving forward and try something else using those as a launching pad. So far I've turned two drawings into block (lino) prints. Here's a test print of Beetlar - I've still got to clean up the 3rd block, but otherwise I'm pleased with the results. I was concerned that the 2nd and 3rd blocks wouldn't register properly. And here's the first one I did - Dester Commando, done in Easter colors: I was going to add "Live Long & Proper" and give them out as Easter cards but it was too damn nice this weekend to sit inside cutting linoleum! But one of these days I'll probably cut some words and make some cards out of this guy.

Re: Post Your Art!
^ The cards idea sounds great! But I would love to see Beetlar stickers being made because it looks so good! Don't worry if you hate the results at first... In fact, you need to keep on drawing. I bet you'll soon have some fun!

Re: Post Your Art!
I think both are fantastic. And I don't think you need to improve any on the Beetlar, the three layers came up excellently, and I love the roughness of the texturing. And of course the Dester Commando blows my mind, I would gladly put those guys all over my house.

I love block printing. I totally hear you about letting talent go to waste. I am usually happy with stuff I make when I really pour myself into it, but I am lazy and undisciplined as far as regular output. I love the Beetlar especially!

Re: Post Your Art!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! sbbenhcs - I hear what you're saying about the registration, and I don't expect everything to line up perfectly, but there are a few areas that I need to fix. Mainly the belly - there should be a strip of blue above each strip of purple...and I might cross-hatch the purple belly stripes but am undecided there. I ran these just to test out the registration without really thinking about the colors, but really ended up liking the blue on pink. I think I'll re-pull these colors once I clean up the belly.

Hi folks, I am honored to take part in a an exhibition at the Resobox Gallery in Long Island. This is an exhibition inspired by Kaiju and my Kaiju Girl painting is one of two that were selected for the show. I am really excited as it is my first time showing work in America. I hope that some of you will be able to see the show. http://resobox.com/kaiju/

Re: Post Your Art!
Certainly not art, but here are some simple animations that I made with a mouse, a pleasingly anachronistic java applet from 2000 called Oekaki BBS (ver.1.31), and slide hacking; a term we coined for an exploitable glitch that we discovered within the ap. Click on the images if you'd like to see what I'm talking about: I suppose I'd call them breathing exercises. 10eastern ethermonkey

Lots of great art going on here. I've been in sort of a slump, so busy with everything else. Came here for some motivation, and it worked!

Re: Post Your Art!
I put up a little show of some my fave toy snaps at a local coffee shop, and had fun painting some backgrounds~ The painted characters on the wall are 6 feet tall.
