Post Mars Attacks Airborne Martian (the original Space Trooper)
This figure is created from an non poseable Mars Attacks kit with custom joints taken from various Medicom and Takara 1/6 bodies making it very poseable. This particular martian design was seen on the wrappers of the 1950's Mars Attacks horror cards from Topps. Just wanted to add that the head from this kit was recasted by Cure to create some of their Henshin Cyborg heads like the one seen in my Avatar. Got the idea to add the buzzsaw arm after seeing one on the Toygraph Space Troopers.

Very nice.

On a side note...there are a couple of sites that have scanned in all the old cards...great stuff to sift through.

Here's a few of my favorites. i've seen people pay hundreds for a single one of these vintage cards.
To me this is what Mars Attacks truly is, I HATED that Tim Burton comedic interpretation. I've heard stories of parents banning their kids from having these due to them being so racy for the 50's.

Fucking love it.

I have that spare CURE head, got it a while back somehow (apologies if I got it from a board member and can't remember who).

I think I want a Mars Attacks tattoo.

"I HATED that Tim Burton comedic interpretation"

I enjoyed the movie, but it would have been better on its own as opposed to associated with "Mars Attacks". The cards are far more serious and I'd imagine could be downright scary for a kid.

What a great custom!
Repro Mars Attacks card sets are well worth purchasing
and enjoying some of that classic art by Wally Wood and Norm Sanders.

I had no idea the movie was based off a card series. Awsome info, I'll have to look in those. Congratulations on a very sickness custom. Also didn't know cure made a remake of those heads, are they a recent release or are they old? I've got to get one for my henshin cyborg army!

Yeah, I remember being really excited when I saw the movie previews as those old feeling of horror rose up from childhood memories of looking at the cards in the early 80's that I found in a collectors store. Needless to say I was dissapointed by the movie itself.

Cure recasted two different heads in several color schemes a few years ago. The clear black one I have was a Secret Base exclusive, and cost me about $50 before commission and shipping from Japan. I've been looking around for more ,but they are pretty hard to come by.

Here is a pic from the collection of Guy Redwing :

Those Overlord (is that the right name?) heads in that collection shot are awesome.

On a slightly related note, this is motivating me to pull out my collection of Dinosaurs Attack! cards...

Can't remember his name, but heres the original kit.

If I recall the story correctly, this guy was actually part of the peaceful religious group of Martians that questioned whether conquering the humans was the right thing.

This guy here is head of the military part of Mars, and is all about wiping out those pesky humans.

I haven't done a "model kit" in the longest time, but seeing these again... next time one pops up at Mandarake I just might have to give it a shot! The entire design on that Contemplating Conquest kit is mind blowing.

You can use an airbrush on more than just vinyl figures, after all...
