I figured I'd throw this in here and see if it stuck...
First off, I'm lazy. Lazy as shit. If I can get away with making a good toy better by just adding one or two things, I will. Painting a whole vinyl just...smacks of effort.
Anyway, I picked up that translucent-ish pink glow Blobpus Andagon from a year or two ago...and I got pretty bored with it almost immediately. I mean...it's
aiight...but it's glow isn't very bright, and that fucking over-sized eye at the end of his forehead lure-stick-thing was stoopit as hell.
Thing is, I'm fucking BANANAS over
deep sea angler fish. No, not sauteed or grilled or fried...I just love the animals, themselves. Freaky little shits. So, when they made a kaiju toy of one (sorta), I
had to get it.
...'Course, when it turned out kinda lame, I need to do something about it. First of all,
an eye at the end of the stalk? It's supposed to be a glowy lure. On a supposedly-glowie Andagon, you'd think that Blobpus would *at least* make the eye glow. Nope. And he's got no normal eyes at all...I know, I know: it's not meant to depict a
real deep sea angler, but it's just annoying that the
real animal is so much freakier than the supposedly daemonic toy thereof...
So I tweaked some things...

First, the glow was WAY too weak. Sure, it was kinda interesting to have a semi-translucent pink vinyl glow *at all*...but as with so many clear-glow toys (I'm looking at you, Gargamel), the glow just wasn't bright at all. So, the first thing I did was fill him with glow gravel. Now, he's quite a bit brighter, but more importantly, he glows at that level of brightness for
hours longer!

Then, I just scuffed up the black paint a little in the eye sockets and dabbed some aqua glow paint in there to give him eyes and some contrast in there while glowing.

Lastly, I took a pair of pliers and ripped out that fucking lame-ass eyeball at the end of the stalk. I got these tiny plastic GID skulls from some gaming store that would be PERFECT to replace the eye. They came painted sorta grey with a black wash, so I just acetoned all that crap off, re-washed it in black, then picked out the raised edges in aqua-glow hand paints. Krazy glue that shit in and BOOM...instant daemonic lure-thingy!
Lemme know what y'all think!
