Magic Sculp, the air hardening 2 part epoxy resin. Maybe you use it, maybe you're thinking of trying it. My advice. ALWAYS USE WATER, don't wet your fingers or tools with your tongue or lips, or you might end up with chemical burns in your mouth like me. Just thought I'd toss this out there, maybe help someone else avoid days of oral pain.

I've used a different kind of 2 part epoxie that's water soluble, but I've never tried using saliva and now I will most definitely not

I'm ok, thanks Cliff. Nothing too unbearable, I'm hoping it will be healed up in a couple days. Just got used to the habit of saliva from Sculpey. I often find that wetting my finger with water is too much, that it makes the magic sculp too workable and it rubs away. Maybe I'll experiment with a sponge, see if that can help control the amount of moisture.

90% alcohol works really well at smoothing sculpey too.

it's a reasonable mistake, i know i've used spit to moisten the surface of clay before to do some touchups.

My tip, I use Magic Sculpt on almost all my stuff, but I also wear the ultra thin latex disposable gloves that are available in most drug stores. And when dipped in water the smooth surface of the gloves works great for finishing detail.

, Beer does make everything better, beer and vicadin.




I know on the container it says to wear gloves if you have sensitive skin, but it's never irritated my hands. I never thought about using the glove for finishing detail though, good idea.

I e-mailed the magic sculp guy and he said he had done the same thing but never had any irritations in his mouth. So maybe my skin is somewhat sensitive.
