Re: Some sculptors you should know (pic heavy)
i was just thinking the other day that i need to find more toys along these lines....... it's been hard to explain to myself what "these lines" are, let alone trying to communicate my toy dreams into skullbrain inquiries. but this thread totally sums it all up. thanks for all the name dropping with the images! now i know what to look for.

Really great sculpting skills for sure! And love the designs on most of them. But they seem more like statues to me.

Re: Some sculptors you should know (pic heavy)
^^That's a real sculpture. Burnt clay, sanding marks. Who cares if it looks pretty as long as it works.

Re: Some sculptors you should know (pic heavy)
I discovered Lucky Rudy has a line of toys called Bone in the TFOA (The Front of Armament). TFOA is a fictional gang/organization that exists in a couple anime/manga/films called Crows and Worst. My understanding is that when the line premiered the characters Lucky Rudy was sculpting didn't actually exist in TFOA, which leads me to believe someone really liked his work and basically wrapped the line and franchise around his style. Anyway the figures are PVC and around 9 inches tall, I think alot of them have articulation at the arms and inter-changeable chase heads, along with magnetically held doll eyeballs - they have bases too, kind of bummed me out, I'm not a base fan. But I'll make an exception for these. They look pretty fucking cool IMHO. Here's a site with an incomplete checklist. http://crowsxworst.com/cxw_toys_bone.htmlI've got a few figs on the way. Once I get them in hand I'll post them up on the board.
