Post Goatcrab- now with painted pictures
I'm in a greoup show with a bunch of friends and I decided to sculpt one of my GF's drawings. The gallery theme is Science Faire, and the idea was mixed and matched animals. Here is a Goatcrab.

I did a little sanding after these pictures, and next I'm going to paint it. It's times like this where I wish I had/could airbrush to make things nicer. Let me know what you all think. There are a few more pictures on my flickr.

I understand if it's a little too western looking for you all.

Post Re: A little bit of sculpting
I tend to see rabbit ears in the sculpt instead of the horns. I think they perhaps should be angled forward a bit more? It could be the lack of paint, but from what I can see the horns appear ever-so-slightly streamlined & therefore giving off a rabbit-y effect.

western-flavored? yes.
damn clean looking sculpt so far? yes again!

I thought it was a rabbit as well. Solid sculpt though.

Thanks for the feedback, I get what you're saying about rabbit ears. I think the paint will resolve that, I'll post some paint pics later this week.

I agree with everybody about the awesome job you did sculpting this. You perfectly interpreted the drawing. Nice work.

I'm sure paint will help make it look less like a rabbit (which I also thought it was at first). I'd also try adding some ears on there. Might make the horns stand out more and make the head more goat-like overall.

Post Re: A little bit of sculpting
I just painted this guy Friday and took pics this weekend. I am debating adding a little clearcoat to the claws and eyes, to give a little more shine, what do you think? Any suggestions in general? The paint did make it look a lot more like a goat than bunny.

This guy will be for sale in a group show gallery next weekend(April 10th), along with prints of the illustration be Megan.

bit of a Disney feel to it...which is not a bad thing. maybe needs more cohesion between the goat and crab body so it doesn't look like it's just a goat head that's been plopped on the grab body. pretty fun :)

Great sculpt and paint! Looks good as-is. I wish there were a few brush strokes where the black and brown meet so it looks like hair and not a stuck on, solid piece. Very cool work though.
