Post Rescue some garage sale art!
I would bet many of the artists around here would do a whole lot better than this:

Basically, found art of lesser value elevated to monsterous wonderfullness by kaijufying it.. I think.

It would be great to get a bunch of artists and have them do this for a show. Anyone wanna play curator and get gallery space for it?

^ That's an awesome show idea. I'd want to find Thomas Kinkade style paintings to mess up.

ummm...I already have an excuse to go back to Chicago in September. ;)
But anyway, I just sent an email out to Kirby. We'll see what he has to say. It might be a little tough because you're asking artists to go out and find a painting to paint over. That will eat into the time spent for actually painting but, no harm in asking. So yeah...email sent. Let's see what Kirby says.

Kirby isn't interested. He likes the idea but won't go through with a show. Gave some nice feedback. Ah well...like I said, no harm in asking. :)

I (with the great help of Damion Silver) already did that a few years back. It was called "Visually Remastered" and encouraged artists to visit local thrift stores, garage sales, etc. and rescue a piece of work. Then to incorporate their subject matter, style, etc. into the works. The idea was to give them new life and a secret collaboration with an artist who may never know. The outcome was actually quite good.

Abe (Lincoln Jr.) was part of it.

Here's a link from Damions blog: http://www.blog.damionsilver.com/2008/0 ... march-8th/

Yeah the specifics escape me, but there's been a few of these shows. Fun stuff.
A bunch of us got stuck w/ clowns once. Pretty much every one just got exponentially creepier.
I really like that first painting. Makes me think of Hayao Miyazaki.

lighted glas could be cool. I've been wanting to screen print on that glow light panel stuff. You can buy it in sheets, it has sort of a matte finish...then screen print an image, plug it in and there you go.
