 Meet "frostbite"
This is a revamped version of my original character. Just messing with full body ideas. Back story coming soon. Might even try and sculpting him, although im not really a good sculpter so might have to outsource. maybe one day a new figure. enjoy! New Version 2.0 ( any critiques appreciated) . . heres the original verison, might lose the arms though. .

^ i think they're politely saying you should move your character designs over to kr where they'll be better appreciated by 12-yr old girls.

Im sorry. But can you tell me why my character is not liked here? I mean they have a bunch of other cuteish characters here. For instance the rose vampire, tokoji, mummy boys, gators, etc. Not trying to hate just looking for simple answers really and ill move.

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
Simply it doesn't fit the remit of the board. Cute is one thing, ice cream walrus's** are another*
I genuinely really like the way you painted the original drawing, but I'm not bothered with KR style crap and most other people on this board aren't either. Hell, Usugrow himself has been subject to debate and I'm sure grudgingly accepted by some people.
My initial 3 comments were much harsher than what I settled on... considering I was speechless when I first opened the thread.
*I don't like Milton's either.
**What's the plural of walrus? I know it's not walrus's, but I really want it to be walri.

I honestly enjoy this forum more than kr and would really love to redeem myself. I felt this forum should see my work instead of kr cause i knew i could get honest opinions. Give me another shot lol. Ill change the cute up and make this character one bad mofo. Appreciate the info. Thx guys.

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
I agree with backtrack (mostly) the style on the first is great just work up some better subject matter(for this board at least) the plural for walrus should be walri and I really do like milton so this isn't just ice cream bigotry I'm sending your way, also I can't remember who did it but the face is near identicle to some chunk of western I've seen

For me, the ice cream walrus character just seems slapped together. I don't really get why there's a cartoony walrus face on top of an ice cream cone. It just doesn't seem to be as creative/thoughtful as the other "cuteish" characters you mention.

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
Honestly, I like the original version better. The body of the newer version just seems like a frog got run over due to the 2-D aspect of it. Maybe if you redrew it the limbs would have more "life" to them like originally
edit: Also, you should have some kind of backstory to create interest - Good/evil/neutral? Earth/another planet/another dimension? Real or imagined? Mutation/creation/alien? etc. etc.

I like the first drawing the best, but that's just my opinion! I think that would make a better figure =]

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
Although not my cup of tea as a toy, I really like the original painting and character. The original arms and proportions contribute to why I like it.
The body on the revamped version looks super generic to me. So much that it trumps the charm of the head/face.
You obvoiusly have a talent in illustration, and I'm sure you could design a character suitable for a great toy... but I think this guy should stay on paper.

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
I think I actually prefer the body to the head. Out of curiousity..why does everything you draw have walrus teeth and a nut sack face?

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
So now the melty nut sack is a bat?
Doesn't really say, "bat," to me...maybe give it bigger ears/wings/stuff that bats have.
I do like that even the tooth/walrus tusk is melty on the melty side. I could see that looking pretty cool once sculpted.

Im not sure why i like the nutsack look of my characters lol. But the walrus thing is my favorite animal. Ill try and sketch him again with more batty features. Thx guys.

 Re: Meet "frostbite"
"Nutsack"?!? Seriously? Mine doesn't look anything like any of the images he's posted. Unfortunately, I think you guys just told us what yours looks like. Yikes!
The most interesting of the images posted so far is the one of the walrus-headed ice cream cone with arms. Cool character sketch, but I don't think it'd make a good toy.
