My Adventures in V-Color
Thought I'd start my own customs tread to contribute in the ruination of SkullBrain. I'll start off with this charming lil gal. This is one of two dolls we had laying around the house gathering dust and getting banged around pretty bad. So when I didn't have anything to try my "Plague" paint scheme on I grabbed the head off of this one and used it. It was only when I made a duplicate of my Plague Damnedron from the ICFSB 2 for a fellow SBer that I decided to finish the rest of her body. She's now happily spreading the plague to some of my collections This cheerful chap's colors was inspired by the Leafy Sea Dragon (sea horse). I really had fun painting this Rangeas. It started life as an unpainted clear. Teeth was painted by hand with really thinned paint (lots of layers but at least no brush strokes visible). I'm still new at painting vinyl toys but I'm having tons of fun learning new stuff each time I paint. Hope you guys enjoy the shots! More pics here,, http://www.flickr.com/photos/atomicmush ... 424383731/Added: March 7, 2010 I originally got this toy from KT a few years back because of how interesting it looked. Sadly/embarrassingly I've since forgotten the name of this character. You can see a couple more shot of it on my Flickr.

I've used all kinds of paint in the past but this V-color is something out of an alchemists lab or something. It's layering properties is just pure magic. GoldenArmKid = Thanks, I was actually shopping for a new camera when I realized that I had one under the bed still in it's x-mass wrapping from two seasons ago. It's not a DSLR or anything but I love how it takes pictures. Baronacasino, Animator = Thank you, I was thinking the wife was going to hate me for doing this but she actually digs it. Now she wants me to paint the other one as well, go figure. Joe wrote: Having already seen your work in person, I can say you have tremendous skills w/ the airbrush. Love the color choices you're using. And that Rangeas is just !!! Thanks Joe that Iwata brush helps allot. I had an old Badger brush that my brother gave me a few years ago and it just couldn't do anything as far as painting vinyl toys. I only found out about Iwatas when I came here and I'm glad I got one. blakewest wrote: That baby doll is every little girl's dream. And I am every little girl. Nice work! I like her allot. I still see the cute kewpie under the paint which few people such as yourself still manage to do and I appreciate that. Thank you. Baikin, PlasticXO = Thanks guys. vinylhammer wrote: Stunning, really stunning. Both have blown me away, and you say your new to customs.....wow, keep on painting them lovely's. Thanks, my first customs where the Combat R Zero's for the ICFSB 1 but that was a simple damage effect job so not sure if it counts. =D Hellopike = Phil, we def need to do a Rangeas swap someday buddy =) jcrazy wrote: Wow. Re: My Adventures in V-Color
For someone who is just starting out you have accomplished a lot with these entry customs. I can see you are already pushing some boundaries which makes me automatically want to see more. Your sense of color and balance are unique. Look forward to adding a DeCastro custom to my collection some day.

@Kist, Redhanded, Thank you kindly. meanmistert wrote: You're doing that Iwata some justice! I really like seeing this other side of your style. Thanks Terrell, I'm anxious to stretch my creative legs and Japanese Kaiju toys has opened a new world for me. plastichunter wrote: For someone who is just starting out you have accomplished a lot with these entry customs. Look forward to adding a DeCastro custom to my collection some day. Thank Connell, I try to use what I know from my other former hobbies to help me out with the technical aspects of painting JP vinyl. I'm still experimenting creatively though and hope I can bring something worthwhile to the table with each piece @Sumatra, Marswillrule, & Locomoto566 = Thanks Autopsy wrote: Robert - I don't know how the he'll I missed this thread until now but your two customs are simply incredible - that Rangeas is just magic... Great job on both customs!!!!!! Thanks M., The Rangeas sculpt is a joy to paint. T9G must've asked himself what elements in a good toy sculpt would be fun to paint and built the Rangeas around that Idea. Kewpie Dolls are a trip, they take on a whole new life when you paint them. I'm thinking of buying some more to experiment on. It beats any platform toy out there anyway you cut it.

Re: My Adventures in V-Color
^^Noted and thanks T^^ I had this for a while now and I thought that even though the sculpt was interesting, the original paint was a bit bleh in hand.
