Post Airbrush ?
Hey can anyone tell me if the Aztec airbrush that Ungawa222 has in the B/S/T forum is a good quality airbrush ? I been thinking of getting one but I don't want to buy one thats not gonna last. He's asking $145 is that good ? Any info is great.

Thanks - SHAPE

I have the A470 which is the all plastic version of what he's selling and i like it..The trigger is a tad awkward at first but is worth getting used to...The quick change tips make for easy and fats cleaning...I know i'm sounding like a slaes flyer but honestly i was just saying to my girl if i had the eatra 150 i'd grab it..I'm still going to buy an Iwata down the road.Just spent 600 bucks on a California Technologies HVLP gun so it's gonna be a while..

Hey guys,

Well, I've gotten a few similar, PM'd questions on this brush and the paints, so I figured I should address them here.

Like John, I've had the plastic version of this brush for some time. I like it for the same reasons, too- very easy to handle and clean, and nice quick-change of the needles. I bought this model last year on impulse- thought I might like to upgrade to the sturdier body, and this one comes with more needles. As I said in my FS post, tho, I ended up never using it. I continue to use my plastic Aztek, which works just fine for my needs- so I figured it was time to sell this one (another factor (naturally) is that I require some extra ducats for an imminent, wallet-busting release).

As for the paints- I've received some questions on how the Freak Flex stacks up against V-Color for toy customizing purposes.

Freak Flex is an acrylic that was designed primarily for resin and vinyl figure model painting. It's great for this purpose- sprays great, and the pigment is very fine and heavy for great coverage.

V-Color, as we know, has a chemical component that actually "embeds" the color into vinyl surfaces, which makes it ideal for toys, with all the handling that they receive over time.

Freak Flex is, chemically, a standard acrylic. It takes very well to prepped vinyl, resin, wood, canvas, paper, prepped plexi, etc. I have used it to completely repaint vinyl toys (over a layer of plastic primer), with very good results- but mainly toys that were very "model-like": no moving parts, and unlikely to be handled much over the years (like YMS-F Hedorahs, for example).

So there you have it- hope all this helps to answer some questions! :D

Cheers,
Mike

no experience with the Aztec but I've had about 2 Iwata HPCs over the course of 18 years. built like a tank and great for overall use and easy for beginers to learn on.
Nothing beats Japanese quality when it comes to airbrushes.
