If anyone tries it, I suggest drinking it cold, poured in a chilled glass with no ice. sparky's was the most expensive at 2.39 a bottle

Re: Root Beer Rules
I love root beer, unfortunately, over in Blighty, we don't have a lot of it about. A lot of chinese supermarkets sell A&W, which i make do with, but i think is probably the poorest of all root beers i've tasted. I must admit i've only ever had root beer once from a proper brown glass bottle and can't remember the brand. But this was in San Fran and from a place that had some really fancy root beer for sale. When i'm in the states i usually go for Mug or Barqs/Bargs(not sure which spelling), as these are the easiest to find in convenience stores.

I put the bottles in the fridge....pint glasses in the freezer. When you pour the root beer into the frozen glass, ice forms at the top. Mmmm....

Re: Root Beer Rules
argh,,that image makes me drool... i put in my vote for stewarts & barq's as my faves...i know barq's is part of the evil coke empire,,but i still likes it yes,,,root beer is near impossible to find in the uk,,,except for singapore-made a&w sold at southeast asian supermarkets,,,it sucks but is sufficient when that is the only thing going.. also australian bunderberg root beer is available but that is a whole different beast...it is more of an herbal taste..not amazingly sweet like it's US cousins.. i tend to make myself sick on root beer everytime i visit the states.. i have been told that for a short while in the 70s,,mcdonalds sold root beer in the UK,,but it did not go down very well..most people were expecting it to be alcoholic

the first tasting/judging went down last night.... In the Revelation Region we had a surprise upset when Triple XXX beat out Jackson Hole Buckin' RB. and in the other regional Kutztown easily handled Faygo. two of the three judges: Jordan Cooper (rev rec.) & Popeye V. (Farside).. not pictured Jeff Caudill (Gameface)

Hey jebcrow. I didnt know bundaberg made a root beer, but I am on the otherside of Australia. We cant really get Root beer in Australia. We always thought it was a funny name because Root means to have sex in Aust'. But we do get the odd Sarsparilla here and there, this is the name we use here. Its noted as a bit of an old fashioned drink, I love it but only really get to drink it when I go to the local indonesian restaurant. And its poured over ice because in true indo fashion the cans are warm, More useless information...I first tried root beer on a tour of an aircraft carrier docked in the fremantle port. I was about 9 or 10 and I thought it was the stupidest soda drink I had ever had.

I can't believe you left something else out and kept Rat Bastard, unless it was as a warning to everyone not to drink Rat Bastard, ha ha. And if you need tasting help, let me know

Last year the Whole Foods near me had a huge Virgil's display. The best part was they had a keg of it on tap for people to try. No one was ever around it so I helped myself to quite a few cups.

Re: Root Beer Rules
Picked up a 4-pack of Virgil's at Trader Joe's. It's still how I remembered it. Good taste but watery. Not as creamy as I like my root beer despite their claim on the label.

Re: Root Beer Rules
it's pretty weak in flavor...at least to me it is...and it's almost flat. kinda funny how it says "sparkling filtered water" instead of carbonated water. i didn't think there was a difference between the 2. it definitely lacks the kick or bite of sarsparilla, and only a hint of the flavor. it tastes more of cream soda, and a crappy one at that, than rootbeer.
