 Re: Designer Con..
Yeah 6 a.m. seems a bit drastic. Can anyone suggest a Pasadena local mom and pops style place to get some good breakfast? I have never been to Pasadena before. Thanks.

I don't do breakfast very often, but I have been to Marston's. It is pretty good, but expect to wait for a table. It gets pretty packed in there at times. http://www.yelp.com/biz/marstons-restaurant-pasadena

 Re: Designer Con..
ok, these aren't in Pasadena but if your in LA for the weekend they are worth the journeys. If you want American I cant tell you to much but if your seeking Thai, Vietnamese, Philipino, Indian or other I may be able to point out some good spots. Best... Dim Sum http://www.elitechineserestaurant.com/Burgers Fathers Office (adults only) 3229 Helms Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90034 TEL: (310) 736-2224 For family burgers try Umami http://umamiburger.com/

 Re: Designer Con..
In Pasadena and surrounding areas there are quite a few amazing places to eat. Roscoes house of chicken and waffles. http://www.roscoeschickenandwaffles.com/ Din Tai Fung. It's in the city of Arcadia which is the city next to Pasadena. One of the best place for dumplings. http://www.dintaifungusa.com/ Daikokuya. My favorite Ramen Place. Located in DTLA in Little Tokyo. http://www.yelp.com/biz/daikokuya-los-angeles Philippe's French Dip sandwiches. Located in DTLA, near Chinatown. http://www.philippes.com/ Wurstkuche. Sausage place with "exotic" meats. Also has a decent selection of beer. Located in DTLA http://www.wurstkuche.com/ Mr. Pizza Factory. Korean style pizza. They are known for the sweet potato crust. Located in Koreatown. http://www.yelp.com/biz/mr-pizza-los-angeles-3 Mowhawk Bend. They have a variety of food here and an amazing beer selection. This place just opened up this year. Located in Echo Park. http://mohawk.la/ Gus's BBQ. One of the best BBQ places in Pasadena. http://www.gussbbq.com/ Porto's Bakery. Cuban bakery and deli. Great cuban sandwiches. Located in Glendale. http://www.portosbakery.com/ 888 Seafood. Great place for dim sum. Located in Rosemead. http://www.yelp.com/biz/888-seafood-restaurant-rosemead Masa of Echo Park. They have a great deep dish pizza. Located in Echo Park. http://www.masaofechopark.com/ In-n-Out. A staple among the California burger joints. If you are coming in from out of town, I highly suggest going here to get a burger. Many locations throughout California. http://www.in-n-out.com/default.asp That's all I can think of right now. I have been to all of these places and recommend each one. IF you are looking for a place to just get drinks, I can suggest quite a few drinking places as well.

 Re: Designer Con..
Not to start a food war but 888 is average at best when it comes to dim sum. Great for dinner though, especially if you want to suck the eggs out of the guts of giant prawn. Bakery...it has to be Sweet Lady janes. Nothing compares. But you will be treated with genaral rudeness. http://www.sweetladyjane.com/

 Re: Designer Con..
I guess I don't know my dim sum. I also like New Capital dim sum, if that tells you anything. I just don't like spending too much money on dim sum since we usually get tons of food. Also a couple friends I goto dim sum with are pretty frugal.

 Re: Designer Con..
Ahh cool, seriously get to Elite some day. Last Christmas was only $100 for 8 people. Thing about Elite is all dim sum is made to order. It doesn't come around on cart getting cold or soaking up the bunsen burner as an after taste. Of the 13 differnet Dim Sum spots I have hit repeatedly Elite always shines best.
And I love cheap too. Give me a drive through fish burrito at Roberto's and I'm in heaven.
