Expect unexcorcised kaiju frenzy in LA for teh next few days until we return to GR for what's ours....waaaaraarrrghghghghghgh!!!!!!!

personally i think GR was a dumb choice. neither location is in that cool of an area, silver lake is just ok. the dopes working there could care less about anything. to me it's just a front for the magazine and a place for the uglies to go buy their plushies.

better options would've been:
- SoS, obviously, but I can see them not wanting to be a part.
- Munkey King, it's on Melrose, lots of non toy fan traffic, the peeps there are generally really nice esp. plex (?)
- Fuck, even Kid Douchebot is in a prime location and they seem to be about as knowledgable as the brains at GR

note: I am only referring to GRLA, the dudes in NYC/SF might be more accommodating

I was there too for about half an hour and saw two empty seats so I decided to leave. Luckily my girlfriend was able to score one for me off of the S7 site.

Yeah, we left our chairs to hold our spots while we drove to the silverlake GR (no answer on the phone). After we got confirmation that neither store would open, we bailed. Our chairs are still sitting out in front of GR unless someone snatched 'em -- lucky lawn chairs. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow.

I'm going to have to agree with Scott, GR was probably the worst choice for the distribution network.

I called today and apparently they don't have it yet and they don't know when they're supposed to get it. This is ridiculous.

i wonder if they are totally up to speed on say the latest Ugly Doll releases?

Although GR has been doing this Japanese thing for longer than almost anyone, maybe they need to get up to speed on the new kaiju they will be stocking...

I went there today and picked up the Invisible Kaiju Pack, they told me they only had one Lucky Bag left of the two that they got in. They really had no idea what they were selling.

I would totally disagree......I love Sawtelle. Lots of great food and little shops. And Sunset Junction has some great places like Undefeated, The Cheese Store, Intelligentsia, etc.

Update:

We got lucky!!

GR had luckybag figures, but oddly, no luckybags. The storeclerk made 2 sets from the 14 loose figures which was easy since the sets were identical. Our plan was to buy 2 bags, but since the 2 sets were identical with no handpainted/chase figs we passed on the second set.

Everyone I dealt with at GR was helpful. We were also lucky/grateful that they held the bags for us without requiring a sleepover (scott looks grumpy in the photo above, just imagine how he'd be after spending the night in line). It was a bit troubling though that someone, somewhere along the way busted open the blind luckybags. Made me wonder if we would have got a shot at buying them if there had been a rare/chase fig in the mix.

All in all, a great way to start the year. The hedoran is awesome. The mix of figs is really cool. And I would have never predicted a cig/harm dude or a gameppa!!!

p.s. also got a creampuff at beardpapa's (down the street from gr). The creampuffs are big and sort of expensive, but still just creampuffs.

Lucky? The Distribution Network should look into who busted open those lucky bags. After spending part of your new years waiting, you guys deserve better.

Totally agree that opening up blind bags is beyond inappropriate. Hopefully S7 gets wind of that and puts an end to it.
