Post My Ubiq Brain Nightmare
Anyone remember my thread from a couple of months ago where I expressed shock at having paid $270 for a Ubiq brain? http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1757&highlight=ubiq

Well, here's the epilog:

My Ubiq brain never arrived with my last Celga shipment. A Bape hoodie, which I suspect to be a fake, and is the world's smallest Medium arrived form the same seller.

I contacted Celga, and found out from Plover that his Ubiq took a while to arrive from the same seller, but it did eventually. As we won them at the same time I figured I would be OK and it would arrive. However, I noticed the seller (who had a handful of positives) was now up to 220 positives and 47 negatives on YJ - which seems unheard of there...and didn't bode well

Yesterday, after many communications, and Plover kindly supplying all his details, Celga verified that the seller wasn't responding to emails sent and that he was now suspended on Yahoo Japan. Celga offered me a refund of the auction markup costs, and $100 of my $250 - which I thought was pretty cool of them .... altho a full refund would have been nice.

So basically, I spent the most I've ever spent on a figure, and I didn't even get it...and probably never will. Guess I should've thought twice before going after it.

Fuck Muton, I'm really sorry to hear that.

What's Celga's take on it in terms of their pursuing it any further? Or have they given up?

I would think that with the sheer volume of transactions they deal with, it would be difficult to track someone like that down if they've been cut off by Yahoo.

I agree. I was referring more to whether they would continue to e-mail the person in an attempt to get ahold of them. I had a Celga purchase go sour a while ago and they hammered away at the seller until I was refunded my money entirely. That said, it wasn't for as great of an amount. I was really happy with the service I received though.

Yep, Celga have given up, thats why I posted this. They've been trying for several weeks to track this down.

In this case I didn't really think I was gambling, just laying down cash to get what I wanted.

Really sucks...as lame as it is, Celga seems to have done well in following up on it and refunding at least part of your money...

Thanks guys, really appreciate the comments. I felt the need to vocalize, so apologies about the whining.

And Z, I agree about Celga - I remember losing money on ebay and they do absolutely nothing for the buyer.

I've never considered any of my buys a gamble, but I've gotten stung. It's a bummer.

So sorry to hear... hope things improve. The quest goes on, ne?

At least you got some of the investment back.

And feel free to vent whenever. A friend of mine says, "Friends keep the therapist away." ^_^

Always unscrupulous folk about in the collectibles world. Hope this bad event doesn't sour you too much on the hunt...

Joel, just logged on and saw this - that is way, way, WAY nice of you - and really too much to ask ..... I totally love the idea and the sentiment, but l am kind of lost for words.

One thing, bad things sometimes come in three's, and this time was no exception (the Ubiq was the least of it, and after all its just a toy) - so for those other reasons this morning I was feeling pretty bad when I drove into work - but this, and everyones comments, has really brightened my day....exceptionally! THANKS!
