Do u know why I left the UK?

They made me because I don't know anything about football.

I think I was the only one, so they deported me.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:36 pm

yeah! you weirdo.

There was an article on Fox this week about football. Thank god I actual talk to real americans or I would think you were all weird. Sorry weirder :D

England was looking good earlier. Some nice work. Thought they would score more though. The Ref was a tool. Bobbing about with his slick eddie munster haircut. Gerrard's yellow card was shite.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 6:39 pm

Yeah...SHITE!

errr...what are we talking about?

Sun Jun 11, 2006 7:40 am

The "Beautiful Game" ...

& England's Dreaming.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 9:12 am

Football season doesn't start for several months yet!

ENTIRE JAPAN TEAM BEATEN BY SINGLE MAN* SHOCK!
(Oops! Two blokes actually...my bad!)

Australia 3 Japan 1 ... Congrats Moriachi.
Estimated 60% of japanese population who watched this game in state of abject shock following Australia's 3 goals in last ten minutes.

By the way, the Japan team's manager's name is Zico.
To me it always sounds like the japanese word 'jikko',
which means 'accident'.
You know, like a train wreck or something...

He's Brazillian funnily enough.
Been here a gadzillion years but still can't speaka da lingo.
Recent article in a gossip magazine claimed to quote him saying he "Hates Japan"...
Hmm...

P.S.: Sorry Creevox. Must still be cricket season where you are, is it?

What sucks most about World Cup time here in the US is that even the games that do make it on to TV are shown on cable channels that you can only get if you choose the "takin' it up the ass" primo channel packages. So I've been following some liveblog accounts of games when I can catch them, which is kind of fun in some respects; condenses the action a bit. Although following the Angola-Portugal account yesterday made wish I could see all the scissor kicks the Angola captain was reportedly trying.

I was in Sydney two years ago, when they were hosting the rugby World Cup. One thing that bugged the hell out me was the use of the word "minnows". It still bugs the hell out of me.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:49 am

we got the game in the bay area on univision (angola vs. portugal). all in spanish though... which I guess is better anyways gooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllll

haha. those scissor kicks were badass... too bad they landed nowhere near the net

can't seem to get any of the games on the radio at work that is not in spanish.. anyone know a station?

Does "minnows" mean anything in particular? I've never heard that term before...

Minnows are very small freshwater fish, but I didn't know they could play rugby.

Thanks Alice... LOL... :D

It was always used to describe teams like Uruguay and Samoa - teams that were only expected to get crushed by the Aussies, English, and the other big names. "Small fish in a big pond".

Hell yeah! Their pre-game chant/dance is awesome.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:34 pm

wtf US, get it together.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:10 pm

No kidding, that game was abysmal.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:48 pm

Sorry guys, this thread's about football (you know : 'soccer') not baseball.

(For the uninitiated 'baseball' is an American game based loosely on cricket,
the main difference being that the players have to take steroids).

Mon Jun 12, 2006 10:28 pm

Whoa, Baseball is based off Cricket???!!Next thing you going to tell me is American football is based off Rugby!!!

Sheeesh, the Brits think they own everything! :D

Seriously though, I find Baseball much more exciting than crickett, so if it is based off Crickett, it still kicks cricketts ass.

Not all Baseball players use roids, just the good ones.
