Re: anything going on sept 1 to 6th?
I'll do my best to meet up if u like. I am hoping u have some kind of Geordie accent tho, otherwise it will be a disappointment Take a search in this section, plenty of people have asked about things to do, places to eat - and its all documented. .... and maybe even fairly up to date. I'm a big fan of WurstKuche in downtown, and not of Pinks here in Hollywood. LACMA, and the BCAM buliding stuffed with ginats Koons pieces, Warhols and Hirst amongst other is a favorite of mine. The Japanese art pavilion there is also a great visit. Then whatever exhibitions they have on, as well as the permanent colletcion are great. MOCA in downtown is always great - especially teh curent 30 year retrospective where you'll find Petibon (Black Flag flyer meister), McCarthy and a host of oher modern art marvels. Shopping wise, well for what we collect you know where to go and its not in LA. But La Brea has streetwear - with Stussy, Union and Undefaeted. Mishka in Echo Park, Munky King and KR for Western on Melrose, The Grove for outdoor mall is nice to visit tho unlikely you'll want to buy anything there....mmm...apart fomr the aformentioned I hardly go shopping anywhere... Drop me a PM for more questions if u like Cheers

Re: anything going on sept 1 to 6th?
Went to WurstKuche a couple of weeks ago before a concert. My favorite was the Filipino Marharlika - sweet pork , natural seasonings, sweet peppers and grilled onions, belgian fries, w/sun dried tomato mayo - awesome! The buns are excellent - soft and grilled perfectly. Früli - witbier fermented with strawberry was also great for a hot summer day. Friendly crowd, and close to the downtown art scene and little tokyo.

(after reading below keep the homo-erotic posts to yourself)(Scott, I apologize for all the meat talk ahead of time. I respect your ethical gastro-decision)I agree, screw Wurstkuche. It's hipster retarded and the food sucks. As a German through and through, I know what I'm talking about If you want traditional Wurst (sausage) then just go to Torrance to the Alpine Village and save yourself the trouble. They have one of the best meat deli's anywhere and they know their wurst, obviously. They don't have exotic meats though and really, that's fine. See comment below about Wurstkuche using waaaaaaaaaaay too much spice. The breads and rolls are unbelievably better at Alpine as well. The rolls Wurstkuche uses are basically hotdog buns and that is a fucking mortal sin when it comes to wurst. The fries are ok, but once you start dipping them into a sauce they can be just about anything. And that's my biggest complaint about Wurstkuche anyway is that the sausages are overpowered by the spices they put in them. Chipotle is a great pepper but too much and it just kills the flavor of the meat. If I'm gonna pony up $9 for some exotic meat then I'd better be able to taste it. Sauerkraut is pure crap too. It's straight from a jar that day. Everyone knows that good sauerkraut needs to be stewed in a crockpot for two days with a hunk of pork butt, equal amounts of onions, some apple and maybe even a piece of bacon for good measure. Ultimately this place is uber-trendy and will be out of business soon enough. People will catch on and that will be that. I miss Gorky's that use to be in that same area. And Al's for that matter.

I go for Continental Gourmet Sausage Co. in the Burbank/Glendale area. Definitely not a night out place actually there is no where to sit or much room to move but good sausages and such.
